My wife authorized a nifty new piece of exercise equipment for Christmas.

It is an Alesis electronic percussion set ... back to the RnR drumming of HS and college days! No more accordion for me ... lol.

I stick with just a 5 string banjo these days. I do have guitars and other instruments, but my theory is that with my limited musical skills, I am better off sticking with one instrument - and I do enjoy it, if only for my own amusement.

I am even reluctant to try different tunings on the banjo and so far have stayed with "Open G" tuning for fear of getting myself all confused"

I suspect the old brain cells may not be what they once were (if they ever were) due to the combined affect of age + lots of home-brewed beer!

I've got a Seagull acoustic guitar and a seven chord skill set. Ultimate Guitar Tabs is my friend. On the other hand our oldest son is a talented singer songwriter. www.renemoffatt.com

Currently have a Martin flattop, Epiphone Emperor Regent, a couple of Loar archtops, a Martin 12-string, and a Harmony Stratotone electric. Sing a bit on the side.

I try to play a little every day. Mostly acoustic guitar and claw hammer banjo, but enjoy the fiddle and mandolin too. Playing music just makes life better.

I have 2 mandolins, an octave mandolin and an old Aria guitar. it's a D35 knock off from the law suit days in the 70's. The 3 piece back is fake veneer over a 2 piece back.

What kind of octave mandolin do you have, Gearheart? I was in love with the sound from the first time I heard it. I like my mandolin, and I love my mandola, but there's something about the deeper sound of the Octave that makes my toes curl. I built one, but one of my sons has it. I am thinking about buying one of the new Weber GBOMs when they come out in the fall.

It's just a Fender that I coveted in the music store for almost a year before it went on sale for 40% off. It followed me home that same day. It allows me to sound like a guitar without needing to learn the jedi mind tricks involved with guitar playing. My mando is a Weber Yellowstone and I have nothing but good things to say about it. The G and D string were also in octaves, i.e. one heavy wound string and one light silvered string. Intonation was impossible so I re strung in unisons with slightly lighter wound pairs. I buy single guitar strings and clip the metal grommets out of them to make mandolin strings because it is hard to find strings for OMs around here. Instructions on how to do this are at FRETS.COM Acoustic guitar instrument care, repair for players, luthiers.

Just sold my round neck resonator and am looking for a nice squareneck. I like both the Washburn R15s and the Gretsch G9210.

I play drums and percussion. Have since I can remember.
I run an online community called Harmony Central for musicians (owned by Gibson).

I guess if there were ever a campfire jam session I could break out a cajon.

I just picked up this- it's easy to store in the wardrobe. At least I'll be able to practice on the road. Click image for larger version

I've played guitar since 1968 when I was 14. Here are photos of my "guitar room". Currently at 14 guitars (including one autographed by Eric Clapton and BB King at King's 80th birthday party in Kansas City). Not shown in the photo are the amps, PA equipment and cases of live sound gear in the garage. I play with friends. Our largest audience to date is 1,000. I tell people, "We're not very good. But, we're really loud."
