A place to be when not camping

A garden water feature is a must to attract positive energy (Qui) for good Feng Shui. Fish are a symbol of abundance, prosperity, perseverance, and long life as evidenced by the myth of the Koi swimming up a waterfall. Once it reaches the top it changes into a Lucky Dragon. That is why Koi and oriental dragons have the whiskers (barbells) around their mouths.

Beautiful! You know, I'd love to see an aerial shot of the garden you guys have created. It looks like such a great space.

I figured I'd revive my thread with some new shots

Virtually all of my garden has been dug up and put into pots in preparation for the demolition and rebuilding of my home. Despite this, everything is growing remarkably well. My peonies are doing better than ever and they are known to get fussy about being disturbed.

Honeysuckle

Astrantia Major

Hostas and Rogersia

Hostas and Iris

Ginger, ferns, Columbine and Iris

It won't be much longer and my collection of Lilies will start blooming!

I love the textures, and the variation and contrast in leaf color. Good luck with the demolition.

Thanks Larry. What I love about the hostas and other shade plants is the architecture of the plants. Especially when they are layered with one another. One nice thing about having them in pots right now, is that it lets me move them around and play with the visuals a bit.

That is Honeysuckle. I believe it is considered an invasive species in your part of the world. In other words, it grows too well.

'08 spring and summer blooms

The jacaranda tree with the lavender flowers, the tree of San Diego, blooms only for a few weeks. The Queen of the Night, night blooming cereus did its first mass bloom on Summer solstice.

I just Googled "night blooming cereus" and came up with several plants. I believe mine is Epiphyllum oxypetalum - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

My red-orange epiphyllum bloomed earlier this spring.

Using fruit for Christmas decoration

Fingered Citron, Buddha's Hand (Citrus medica var. sarcodactylus) Buddha's hand - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is the second year my Citrus medica has produced fruit. Since San Diego rarely gets snow and citrus is ready to harvest in late fall and winter, I use the fruit as Christmas decorations (loosely arranging it with juniper cuttings and bromeliad spikes, make pomanders, and as an ingredient for range top potpourri (low slimmer cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, whole allspice, and citrus peel).

With the rain, abundant sunshine, and the temperature high in the mid to upper 60s, the garden is in its tropical glory as the bromeliads display their brilliant floral berry-like spikes.

Wishing Happy Camping and Holidays to all,
Larry

I think this picture is a good one because of the holiday season. I built the arbor out of and old swing set that was being thrown away. Everything used on that arbor was recycled. I did not buy one thing except screws and nails.

How many treats did it take to get the Spaniels to stay in costume?

My wife and daughter did the pictures. I think my daughter took each picture individually and using photo shop put the dogs in the picture with the arbor. I am not really sure. I know what you mean about treats. They can get hyper.
