Are all horses created equal? If I have 4 clydesdales are they equal to 5 qarterhorses? I think a team of mules would be the way I would want to go.

Would 4 quarterhorses equal one dollarhorse?
A team of oxen would be more reliable, and more powerful, but slower, than horses.

To those interested in the cost of horses:

Horses cost anywhere between "free" and Million$.
Typically, you can get a decent riding horse for $1500-$5000.
It costs us about $60 a month to grain our two horses during summer months when they have pasture. Winter when there is no hay, figure about 1 bale of hay a week for a pasture kept horse at $4+ per bale. Hooves need trimming every 6 weeks, cost us around $40. An unexpected vet visit can cost $100 or more. A horse ridden or driven on the road needs shoes that need to be reset every 6 weeks or so, can cost $60-150 depending on farrier.

If you do not have room for your horse at home, lots of folks board them at stables, cost $150 to $1500+ at a big time show stable.

It looks like the horses have priced themselves out of the running, how about this old standby.

Aaron,

I'm sure a direct gas line can be installed! But it'll take a trained technician to install it, without getting bucked.

1. I think you need a new axle
2. It must be tough opening that door ~
