Can we please put some water back in this glass? I know too many bright & inspiring young people. Each of us "elders" have examples from our families where responsibilities were graciously handed along to a deserving younger generation. Andy had a nice trip -- I hope the memories are bright.

Reverance is in Short Supply

Andy, I was fortunate to have been among a tour group that visited the Arizona Memorial in Jan '89. Many of the men attending, had not been back to the site since the war. Many of the men also had lost comrades on that ship. It was a place to be quiet, respectful, and for even the strong, to shed a tear. I did not serve in the military as many have, but this special place brings a lump to my throat.

Thanks for this post, Andy.

As I sit here with tears in my eyes, it says it all for me too. My oldest brother served in WWII on the USS Baltimore CA-68, another brother was in the Coast Guard and another on the USS Gearing DD-710 and I on the USS Soley DD-707. I have always been proud to have served my country no matter what happens.
