Record lows last night in Austin
We were in the mid-to low-teens last night in the city, which is very rare for mid-February in Austin. The record low at the airport had been 26 until now. It was 12 here in the Hill Country when I checked at 6am.
Problem is that many homes aren't constructed for cold with unprotected piping in the attic that tends to split and flood the house. Happened a few years ago to my daughter; the ceiling over their closet fell in, causing a terrible mess.
When I built an addition to my house, I specified a self-draining faucet and they had to special order one.
We are supposed to get much warmer weather next week for our 7-Airstream caravan to Big Bend.
