If you want a set of original Don Featherstone flamingos, we are giving a set to every rig that attends the upcoming NEU maintenance rally in early May.

Yikes!!!!

This is really crazy/scary! Four years ago 2003 B.A. (Before Airstream) I purchased a lawn ornamental set of "Don Fleatherstone" Flamingoes for my wifes flower garden. At that time I paid $5.00 for the pair in the original box! Now they are selling for ten times that! I sure wish I had kept the box! I think I will go back to that little country store and see if they still have any in stock. If so I will buy their entire inventory and corner the mark up market! (Insert maniacal laugh) Ed

You might try the link again. It worked for me! Great article on the smaller flamingos. Wonderful Nat Geo pics! If not, copy paste into your browser. Worth a second look!

Calder Flamingo!

Here is another link... this one in Chicago... How would you like this sculpture in your yard! (I would love it... because it would mean I could probably afford lots of Airstreams!)

Scott, love the tray. Will stop by Target' on my way home. Very cute grand-daughter. Last Monday I was in Leomeister, MA and stopped by Union Products. The plant is offically closed and I was able to speak with the owner who I had interviewed for my ALM article. He still has the molds and is working with his creditors at this time. So with that said, there may still be hope for the original Don Featherstone Flamingos to migrate back into our lives!

Hey Rick,

I got the same trays and matching plates at my local Target a couple of weeks ago. They were in the "specials" area, near the entrance - next to a whole bin full of plastic monkey heads (no kidding).

With the supply of the original twin boxed sets of flamingos getting scarce, monkey heads may be the next big thing.

Tim,
A little light green and tan paint applied in odd patterns, and you'd never know they were there!

Thumbs up Husband doesn't believe it....

before all the hoopla with the plant closing and all last year, I picked up a pair of the pink dandies at an estate sale. Didn't know a thing about Don F. and that importance, in fact I didn't even turn the little suckers over to see what their butts said.

Imagine my surprise when I went to the barn and dug them out to find that they were in fact originals!! Just wish I would have sprung for the $5.00 pair in the box too. Only paid a buck for the "used" ones.

Hubby would still rather see something "midwestern" stuck in the ground.
