MILLVALLEYCA,
I do not know how easy a 27' AS towes but my 1991 34' Limited ( or 35' as the registration says) towes like it is not behind me. Very easy tow. I am driving a 2007 Chevy Ext cab w/6.5'box. Duramax/Allison of course. Running down the Oregon coast I get 11.9 to 12.7 MPG. On the freeway, in 5th gear, at 60 to 65 mph I am getting 14.3 to 15.1 MPG

Here's a full preview of the PanAmerica and lots of pictures, both inside and out. We like it, but feel that the future lies with the lighter, lower Sport models.

After seeing the newer photos, I liked the Classic style tail lights on the prototype better.

Does anyone know of anyone who's bought the PanAmerica? It'd be interesting to get some user feedback on this vehicle.

I haven't read this whole thread - sorry if this has been covered.

This week, I was talking to the salesman at the local dealer who has one on the lot. He said that there have been eight units built at this point, they are testing the market before doing a production run.
As the salesman said, at $100K it may be a tough sell.
I can take specific photos if there is any interest.

In this economy they'll be lucky to sell the ones they've built.

We went to a RV show here in the Dayton area. They had I think most every model From Base Camp to TransAmerican I think its called.
I hope they sell some. But like someone said previously at 94K plus tax in this economy bet they don't sell many.

I had seen one listed on Ebay for several weeks with no sale. I agree with some previous posts that they should stick to their niche.....that has been one of the big reasons for Harley's long term appeal and success.

I wonder if the $19K price increse over what it was supposed to cost originally has anything to do with lackluster sales. $94K puts it about $35K above the cost of the biggest 42ft 5th wheel toy haulers currently on the market.
Most toy hauler buyers aren't brand loyal, nor are they impressed with a much more expensive trailer with fewer features and a smaller garage area than others. Just because we all have a bad case of aluminitis doesn't mean the general public understands.

The local STL dealer has brought one down to the RV show at the Convention Center. I walked through it today during the move in. The show starts tomorrow 2/19 and runs through Sunday. The unit on display does not have any cabinets or floor rails in the toy haller compartment. Those are apparently are options. Sticker on the one here is $92K. I'm not sure what they will sell it for.

Actually looks like exactly what I need.
I had a 32' Excella and was greatly handicapped by lack of space. I have tons of clothing, books, camping gear, misc supplies and tools and it was all scattered throughout the unit, on the sofa and elsewhere. I had no place to put it.
I confess, I am a packrat, no matter how much I tried to downsize, the stuff just stuck with me.
I thought lack of storage space was AS weakest spot, IME. It looks like this is a nice addition to store stuff in. So the primary 23' space remains livable and free of junk and clutter. The storage space doesn't have to be used for toys.

tail weight and AS sightings

glad i looked this up 2air would've beat me up-i happened to be in Eugene, OR this past weekend and lo and behold I saw LOOOOOONg trailer at an RV dealer! it was a 34'-9 inch unit without a rear bumper! it was a Toy Hauler! had the clam shell back end and would haul a smart car, a couple of sno mobiles, or ATV's or a bunch of motorcycles, or a coupla Amigos-well, whatever. it was a 2009 and the posted price was 79-80k$ quite a thing, and i would imagine quite a balancing act depending on what ya put back there.
Oh-and for anyone in WA, OR, ID or N CA, Sutton RV has recently taken delivery on a BUNCH of new AS's-FC's, FB's at least 8 single axle little guys, a coupla of Freightliner/AS's class B's (my son and I call those rigs Sphincters, not Sprinters) so come on out and bolster the west coast economy!

Hi, Dave! Saw your post re: the PanAmerica ... we've had one since January of 2009 and love the unit! However, family situations are forcing to consider selling it. Are you still, in fact, interested?

Violetmum,

You may want to post it in the classified section. I think more people will see it there than in a thread.

So, was Santa good to you? If he didn't bring you one for Christmas, I have one of these for sale. We love the unit but must consider selling due to family circumstances. Interested?

Hi, Chris! I just joined the forum and saw your post ...

We have a 2009 PanAmerica -- one of the first 10 units built -- and love it! We haven't had any of the negative issues mentioned here. We have several upgrades (Reese dual-cam hitch system, KVH satellite, audio/video upgrades, etc.) and carry 2 Yamaha Zuma 125 scooters in the garage ... with lots of room to spare!
It's easy to tow (as all Airstream trailers are); has plenty of space for me, my husband and our dog; is durable and has lots of ways to use the garage space.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions ... or if you're interested in purchasing one. Unfortunately, family circumstances are forcing us to consider selling ours, so we're offering a great price on a lightly used unit in excellent condition ...
