Airstreamers "Final Prayer"?

I am a minister at a Disciples of Christ Church in Louisburg, Kansas and tomorrow morning, December 12, 2009 I will be presiding at the funeral of Ted Matzkanin, a devoted Airstream owner who also rebuilt wrecked Airstreams. He and his wife Jane were members of the KC Chapter of the Wally Byam Airstream Club.
He truly loved those wonderful Airstreams and he and Jane went everywhere in the US...and I"m wondering: is there a prayer I could use at the end of his funeral service, an "RVers Prayer" or an "Airstreamers Prayer"? Or a poem? Or a familiar phrase that Airstream devotees exchange as they leave a rally? Anything, really!
I'm quite serious about this and any help would be appreciated.
Our church's website is

fcclouisburgks.org

if you need to confirm that I'm legitimate.
Time is of the essence as his funeral is Saturday, 11 a.m. CST. here in Louisburg, Kansas.
Thanks for whatever you know!

You may use this, or not:

"Lord, we send our brother to be with you, and wish him smooth roads and a following wind. May your angels watch over him on his final journey".

hi sandy...

what a nice idea looking for a/s specific content.

i'll be pulling a shiny 34 footer right by the church early morning and will honk/flash.

as for a phrase to use there are many...

"see ya down the road" is a common good bye for streamers...

and i'm sure others will soon be posted to help you.

cheers

Indeed, a very nice idea. "See you down the road." would be my suggestion, too.

Our sympathies to his family.

FYI, here is a story written shortly after Wally Byam died in 1962.

Ran across this song awhile back

Airstream, big silver airstream
Leave the world behind me
They won't find me in my airstream

Free, I don't wanna be stuck in the city
With the cars and people downtown
Waiting in a line
Wishing I was far away
Where no one knows my name

Ocean, big blue ocean
Rolling like a daydream
Down the highway in my airstream

Free, I don't wanna be stuck in the city
With the cars and people downtown
Waiting in a line
Wishing I was far away
Where no one knows my name
Or my address, it's a place I've never been
When it gets too familiar I'll be gone

Free, I don't wanna be stuck in the city
With the cars and people downtown
Waiting in a line
Wishing I was far away
Where no one knows my name
Or my address, it's a place I've never been
When it gets too familiar I'll be gone
When it gets too familiar I'll be gone
When it gets too familiar I'll be gone

GOD BLESS

RIP

I also second the "see you down the road" saying. It can have many meanings and is very hopeful.

It's truly lovely that you are taking the time to learn more about this individuals passion. What we love doing can say more about us than any collection of words. A taste for adventure is something that Airstreamers (and others) share.

Another suggestion might be Dylans Lyrics for the song forever young. here's the first bit:

May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young

and a nice video version:

I know when a long time Airstreamer from the Ontario group died, a group of Airstreamers from his club followed the hearse with their Airstreams in tow. I think Don McKelvay organized it. mckelvay@execulink.com

Thanks to responses to 'Final Prayer...'

Thanks to all who responded to this unusual request for something I could share at my friend's funeral, something that is unique to Airstreamers. We had some 'Streamers at the funeral and thanks to them for coming.
I'm grateful for the ideas. I used them in the service.
