Haydocy was less than 1/2 of the price when I use my own tow vehicle.

Was the Bozeman accident a 23? Was the cause of the Cresta incident a wheel dropping off the pavement? Maybe the ones you mentioned are two different incidents than the ones discussed on the forum. Your inside information would be appreciated to expand the knowledge of the group. Pat

I gave my Suburban to my sister the first of the year, and, picked up a '91 Excella 25ft Memorial Day. My TV is a GMC 1500.

I miss my Surburban and have has thoughts of trading for one. So I'm interested in your experiences with the Surburban as a TV

TIA.
We have a FC 27FB. We looked at pickup trucks but chose a suburban because we use it for other purposes, and it has lots of interior room, 3 rows of seats, room for dog, etc. We've had no problems with it.

What is the definition of half ton? Three-quarter ton? One ton?

These designations supposedly indicate payload. These days payloads varies widely across makers, models, and installed features. Saying “A three-quarter ton can do this” or “a half ton can’t do that” is outdated and meaningless.

A quick Google survey (subject to major correction) of current models’ payloads is revealing:

“Half Ton”
Nissan Titan........1329 - 1616
Ram 1500...........1237 - 1933
Chevy 1500.........1740 - 2020
Toyota Tundra......1440 - 2080
Ford F-150...........1641 - 2320#

“Three-quarter Ton”
Ram 2500.............1466 - 3060
Chevy 2500...........2968 - 3559
Ford F-250............3305 - 4267#

So a half ton pickup carries a half ton or one and a quarter tons (1237 to 2320 lbs); it just depends. And a three-quarter ton truck can carry three-quarters to over two tons (1466 to 4267 lbs). Any half ton with the right equipment can carry more than a three-quarter Ram with the wrong setup.

“Half ton”, “three-quarter ton”, “one ton”. These designations are outdated and meaningless. All that matters are the trucks’ individual specs.

Welcome to the 21st century. It’s different here.

Do your self a favor and check out Tinnos. 1/3 the rate of AS2Go. I don't know how they can charge so much.

This place is 175 to 365 per night.

last fall we rented an Airstream to go...landed in Bozeman MT and spent a few weeks in the high desert with the 28' AS...and Tahoe and loved it. We found it trailered well..even up and down some pretty significant peaks as we made out way through Jackson Hole, Moab, Sedona and places in between. They were also really well outfitted inside. We dropped it off in Los Angeles and loved our experience so much we just purchased a Pendleton. this we tow with a Mercedes ML350d and are also very happy with the way CANAM in London hitched it up.

We rented from Airstream2go last Spring out of Vegas and drove to Sedona and the Grand Canyon. Like many mentioned, we had never towed or slept in a trailer before and wanted to make sure we liked it. We loved it, and finding that out might have saved us from a costly mistake in a few years.

The trailer and tow vehicle were in great shape and very well outfitted. Even the pantry was loaded with staples in addition to the dishes, pans, grill etc.

This year I will most likely rent from Haydocy as it's significantly more affordable and closer to us in Chicago. I hope the experience is as great as Airstream2go.

Just make sure they have a physical address...not just a PO Box. I got slightly stiffed renting a Mercedes Sprinter Class B this fall from a company on the West Coast. They admit they owe me money but don't send it and they have stopped returning my polite emails.
