Arrow Airstream Pilgrimage

Hello all!

Good fortune will be taking me to Ohio next week, so while in the area I will be making my pilgrimage to Jackson Center.

Is there anything I should know before my visit? Can you overnight at the factory?
I visited the AS site but could not find anything specific.

Thanks in advance,

Michael

Take the tour. I think it's at 2pm est.

You can overnight at the Airstream Campground (TerraPort). There is a fee of $10 per night and you get full hookups (not sure about what it's like in early spring, with freezing and all with water hookup).

hi michael

lots to do in the region...
tour is from 2-3pm...with shopping in the factory store before or after. the vintage trailers are put away...sort of...for the winter, but can still be looked over...

terraport is a great camping spot at 10$ for full h/u and has free wifi....be sure to ask at the front desk for a password...

wbcci h/c is on east end of town....and closes early....need a beret?

nice little pizza place downtown,
hardware store on the north side/downtown, is owned by a former electrical engineer/designer for airstream...he knows lots of stuff about your trailer...

in dayton,
to the south is the 'dayton aviation heritage national historic park'
ya heard of the wright bros?....well this park is a tribute to them and dunbar...a little know, seminal figure in aviation history. good place for a half day....the wright cycling center history...is also in this park.

neil armstrong was born in wapakenets? which is also close by...

my favorite place in new bremen, which is about 20 minutes west of jackson center....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Bremen,_Ohio
-you will like this little artz/fartz town...
-nice little cafes and food spots,
-it was the highest point on the erie canal...so there are canal locks and history.
also canal paths are now converted walking/bikingg trails....fun a car free.
-my favorite spot is the bicycle muesum of america....this is really a cool place to visit...almost more fun than the factory tour....

so if you got a few days take in dayton and jackson center and new bremen.

if only one day do new bremen in the morning; have lunch and j/c in the afternoon.

cheers

Getting A/S Service?

If you're getting your unit serviced, you get two nights free at the Terra-Port, but you must be on their schedule. Call them first.

And...

The only thing you won't like about the Terra-port is that the sewer connections are actually raised. It's nearly impossible to get your slinky to be even level. I sooooo enjoyed massaging mine to make it empty a gallon or so at a time. That experience made me try out the Sewer Solution www.sewersolution.com It actually will siphon uphill slightly if your tanks are reasonablly full.

I acutally placed some blocks under my flex hose and it worked well....and you're right, if you are having service there, it's free, but as Paula said, you do have to set up a reservation usually.

BTW, here is a link to an sat view of the factory. Notice the three circles to the right. That is the TerraPort campground. The building closest to the campground is the service center and the large building the the upper left is the production facility. Right below that is the staging area of completed units, and employee parking. This was taken in 1994. Enjoy.

You know I have fought this battle for years. Everything from uphill drains to the pipes sticking up from the ground. About 5 years ago when I bought my first Airstream, I decided to spend some money and buy something that would take care of this.

The unexpected result was that my hose stays cleaner, it drains well, and I haven't had a puncture of any sort since using this caddy.

I found that this purchase may invoke "murphy's law". ran into the problem enough times to prompt me to go out and buy one, and haven't since parked in a spot where I'd need it.

just as well, either way, I guess!
