Airstream Picnic

Sunday was my birthday. Turned 37. Yup, time waits for no one

I love fried chicken. However, my wife will never buy it, let alone make it. Too many calories and all... Well, it was my birthday by gosh, and I thought I deserved some fried chicken.

So we went over to the good store in the next town over with the premo deli and I got the big bucket of chicken, the big tub of fresh macaroni and cheese, and a big jug of grape soda.

I'd been talking to my daughter about this and we wanted to have a picnic. Only deal was it was very hot, very humid, bugs would eat you alive, and was threatening to rain. What's my six year old girl do? She said "I know Daddy, let's have a picnic in the AIRSTREAM!"

I said "Alright!"

So even though it's parked within 6' of my house and plugged up to shore power, we cranked up the a/c, folded out the table the whole way to make lots of eating room, and had one heck of a party. My daughter discovered that she really likes grape pop, I ate way too much chicken, 18 month old son discovered that he likes to play in the bathtub in the back, and wifey tried to keep her sanity. Oh yeah, we had the 7" Panasonic DVD player going with "The Incredibles" in the background. Finished it off with strawberry cake.

The rig still smells like chicken, but it just doesn't get much better than that. I can't wait until it's actually roadworthy

Smile Happy Birthday!!

Wow what a great birthday celebration! Our 4 year old loves to picnic in the trailer too, kids seem to know how to have Airstream fun even when we can't go camping!

I feel your pain!! I love fried chicken too and I stay away from it for the reasons your wife gives. Good for her for watching your diet, and good for you for treating yourself on your birthday!! Happy Birthday to you!

Sounds like my kind o' party!

Thank you for the birthday wishes! Heck, I don't wanna grow up. I still go to Toys R Us and buy hotwheels cars

I notice that both of you are very close to becoming Rivet Masters. Kudos in advance At the rate I'm going, I may be there in another year.

Thanks again!

Hi, Jim,

I'm on a "once a week diet plan." I can eat fried chicken one time per week. The problem is that I also have a day for fried shrimp, one for breaded porkchops, one for steak, etc. Today was my rutabagas day - stunk up the whole neighborhood cooking them - but somehow I'm feeling virtuous about this. But wait until the GAS hits tomorrow.

Then I'll be looking for that other once-per-week! Beano!
