Airstream model fresh off the 3d printer

I modeled up the original kit Airstream and had a coworker print this on his 3d printer last night. What do you think? I'll try and get better pictures (taken at work with camera phone).

That materials only about $20 a cubic inch, right?

I'll ask, I think he was going by the $/oz. He just got it a couple weeks ago so this was a challenge/experiment.

As the kids nowadays would say, "that's epic!" Are you going to paint it?

that was the first one, I might refine it and yes, paint it. Can't tell from the pictures but there are scallops molded in for the stripes too.

Epic. That's really cool. It I am not mistaken this uses heat from a laser to melt plastic beads and uses thousands of passes to build the material. These printers are extremely accurate.

Jason,
Neat model! What scale is this, are you going to offer these sale? I have seen vehicles in n-scale in similar material and the detail was awesome.

Wow, that is cool! Is it hollow, or solid? If hollow, what supported the roof while it was printing, or was it printed upside-down? I'd love to the see the printer at work.

That is incredible . What type of time was involved to get to a finished model?

What would it cost to have one of my trailer done? A ball park figure.
For every dollar above just a few I have another reason to not want a model of my trailer

But I must say That is beautiful
Thanks for sharing

This one I drew as a 1:24 scale 16', not the correct 14', it comes out to approximately 1:43 scale.

Purdy! Axles look fabulous!! Now imagine milling one in aluminum. I bet the good doctor would give in and release his plans.

The taillights look quite similar to ones on on the mothership's Bowlus sitting in the Service Center on W. Pike St.

Canoestream, you nailed the tailights.

The CAD time to model it up is where it gets involved, especially when working the thumb and eye method as I did. I guess I might have to look into figuring out what it'll take to do more.

Thank You for the compliments!
