Walls and Insulation

I had a nice surprise when I stopped by Airstream Haven on my way home from work yesterday.

Ken, that is looking great! It wasn't too long ago that it was just a flat spot of dirt. Once you get your trailer inside, the fun begins!

Courtesy Parking Too!...

Thanks Richard, and remember, there will be two courtesy parking spots with full hook-ups for all former prospective members (PCMs) of the erstwhile Four Corners Camping Unit. Not to mention, dry camping for three or four more.

Must be the season

Ground breaking for me is on the seventeenth of October. I've been waiting for this builder since the Spring. I'll use an overhead door that is ten feet high by twleve feet wide, aluminum of course. Built as a leanto to an already existing building, the new addition will sit four feet lower than the slab on the older building. The plan has a raised walkway, inside the garage and poured even with the original slab. This will run the 60 foot length of the building to facilitate roof and upper body work.

It will be interesting to compare progress!

Let's see garage first! Then if I can figure out the method of posting photos I'll be glad to post pictures. Finish date is projected as Jan. 31, 07 at the worst. The trailers will live in more luxury than I do as the space will be heated and air-conditioned. (My house depends on wood for heat and no AC.)

I'll be interested in following this other project and perhaps getting some ideas on some of the finishing details.

Ken, sounds like we could hold a small rally at your location. You could commute to your trailer from home!

Not a Bad Idea...

I can handle five or six for next Balloon Fiesta. There will full hook-ups for the first two to arrive; water and electric for the late comers. Inside building will be toilet, shower, washer and dryer.

Only one problem, you'll need to post an armed sentry or take turns standing guard.

Ken

Cost considerations to a certain extent but mostly Albuquerque's byzantine commercial design regulations have constrained my design to some extent i.e. $4,100 for a drain under a dumpster pad when I won't even have a dumpster.
Building regs are a pain (in the drain)...

But some day you might sell, so doing it now is cheaper than retrofitting.

Oh yes, but consider some of the things I am required to have for my Airstream hobby shop:
o A plumbed water fountain with drain
o Handicapped parking
o Motorcycle parking
o A bicycle rack
o 240 sq ft of glazing in the front wall of the building. This required a very expensive overhead door with glass panels. This will make the building irresistible to the hooligans who inhabit these environs.
o 15% of the surface area must be landscaped with shrubs and desciduous trees. This in a semi-arid region will require a drip $ystem
o All handicapped accessible fixtures in the restroom.
o Block walls or wrought iron to replace chain link fencing
o And the aforementioned dumpster pad with drain.

Ken,

Is this building in a residential area?

But as you can see in the background, we have mobile home parks scattered here and there. There are some hard working, blue collar, Americans living in these parks, along with some hard working, undocumented migrant workers (illegal aliens), along with the not-so-hard-working dregs of society, drug dealers, etc.

I live in a fairly nice section of Phoenix, but not too far away we have a mobile home park (not fulltimers). My neighborhood has had a few problems with people who were traced back to this park. My neighbor stopped and turned over to the police one person who wanted to gain entry to my home without my permission. He was never brought to justice because he returned to Mexico before his trial. We now have 2 large dogs (and 1 small one) that will make alot of noise if someone enters the property. I feel much safer now.

How do you plan to secure your area?

BTW, the new term for bank robery is now, undocumented withdrawl
