"easy fix"?
Good for parts, but I'm not so sure how "easy" it would be. The price is certainly right, if the engine and genset work.

I've become amused by the Airstream listings on Ebay and the ads on Craigslist that say things like this. If it were such an easy fix, then the current owner probably would have gone ahead and done it.

And then there are the VERY bold sellers who say things like, "You could easily polish this trailer and sell it for twice what you'll pay here." Again, if this were true, then I have no doubt that the seller would go ahead and polish it himself, and appropriate that revenue rather than let his buyer make those big profits.

But judging by the number of partial restorations and incomplete projects I see listed, I think some people actually fall for this.

That's a mess. I see nothing "easy" about fixing that back to a useable condition. Worries me that the seller doesn't seem to speak english very well either.

I think this is the unit that member gypsychris was about to buy, then it burst into flames the day he was supposed to pick it up! Talk about fortuetous timing!

I just took a close look at the photos in the ad. In two of the photos, you can see the seat belt looped around the steering wheel. There is only one reason I know to do this, and that is to pick up the back end of the motorhome to tow from the rear. This keps the front wheels from moving right and left while towing. Something that long, picked up from the back, can't be good for it. Add that to the obvious condition of the interior, and it becomes more and more "parts".

Not even parts, that thing would eat a fortune in new parts even if you were some kind of rebuild specialist.

Listings for Airstream floor mats have more information then this one. Two pictures and 8 words, makes you wonder...

More pictures and a description have been added. It just doesn't "sound" right. Definitely a "let the buyer beware" vibe coming here.

Now it makes sense.

Agreed.

My bet: the listing has been "hijacked". Someone cracked his password and took it over.

Currently the BIN is $11,88 while his text says (twice) that it's $5,800

Stand well back from that one...

I turned the account in to Ebay, and fired off a message to the real account holder.
