Airstream Changes

FYI

Here is an article posted on facebook concerning future plans for expansion by AS. The last part of the article states in the future they might open another manufacturing facility to handle the west coast. From my own experience I think a big mistake.

I'd be happy to see more emphasis on quality assurance, less on production volume.

It says they're introducing two new product lines this year and the Nest next year. I wonder what's up for this year?

Well, rebranding Nest Caravans as Airstream Nests will help Airstream pick up less affluent campers who can't afford the increasingly overpriced late-model Airstreams.

But I can already imagine the great wailing and gnashing of teeth in WBCCI about whether to let Nest owners into the club… After all, if they let Airstream Nest owners in, wouldn't they also have let let pre-Airstream original Nest owners into the club as well? Then that would open the door for the dreaded Thor MoHo debate to rear its ugly head again.

I'm going to ignore the whole West Coast thing, since it was just a passing mention. It would take a helluvalot of cross-country shipping to equal the price of a new assembly line and a whole new set of employees to man it.

On the other hand, a regional factory service center so West Coast owners don't have to tow all the way to Jackson Center would be a fine idea…

When 100% of the units are coming off the line with zero defects, then they could start something else like Nest production. No use making two defective product lines.

There really isn't such a thing as 100% and zero defects when talking about manufactured products. I think some here have unrealistic expectations. There are 3 million dollar Class A's that have "issues.

There are no current Nest owners. They only made a couple for development purposes. Both of those are currently in Jackson Center. So no worry about previous Nest owners knocking down the door of the club demanding membership. If it is labeled an Airstream then it is an Airstream.

Okay. I wasn't aware of the company's history— or lack thereof. The company's Internet presence apparently greatly exceeds its real-world presence.

True, apparently the designer had a vision, big dream and a good web page designer, but no clue how to make it happen. In steps Airstream with money and a network in place to make his dream come to life.

The article and Wayne&Sam also noted there are two additions, the Nest and ? I've been speculating for a while it could easily be a Thor big Coach re-branded as Airstream. I have no knowledge, but would not surprise me in the least.
