Air Forums T-Shirt Artwork - Contest?

Hi everyone!

Robert Cross brought up a great idea in the "Cool T-shirt" topic, and I thought it needed its own topic. Have we discussed having an Air Forums T-shirt before? I think they would be a GREAT thing to have, and can possibly take care of the production end of things (we know a very good silkscreen company who has done excellent work for us before on another T-shirt project), unless someone else would like to handle it.

I would like to propose an artwork contest for a T-shirt. Andy, et al, is this acceptable? I would like to think the shirt would have to have something to do with Airstreams/the Forums/the AS life without infringing on the Airstream logo/identity. The screening company can handle graphics and/or photographic printing, so no problems there.

Let's open the discussion! Good idea, bad idea, design rules for the shirts, several choices of design?, how to judge, etc.!

Edit to say maybe we could use all or a percent of profit from the shirts to help support the forums and/or set up a fund for Airstreamers in distress (governed by some sort of rules/a board/etc., of course). Any thoughts???

Susan

Great Idea! How about three weeks or so to submit designs, then two weeks to vote?

That sounds like a wonderful idea. T-shirts are our camping uniform.

I like the idea I think it should have the air forums logo and tag line on it if they will let you do that...SAM

Just our thoughts on T shirts.....

For what it's worth, Our preference when picking out shirts is usually something with a subtle logo on the front left breast and any artwork on the back......

That's pretty much my preference, as well.

Great idea! I guess I could reserve one camping day for my Forums T-shirt instead of the usual Hawaiian shirts I normally wear.

Hmm, how about an AirForums teeshirt with a black tie silkscreened on it as a special just for the Bozeman event?

Thanks for brining this up. There is definately demand out there for community branded gear so lets move forward and get some graphics created.

As for fullfillment, I would feel most comfortable using a service like CafePress who can print on various types of shirts, mugs, coasters, stickers, etc. All proceeds will be donated to a charity we choose each year.

I would like to talk to Airstream, Inc and Vintage Trailer Supply about fullfilment in case they would like to take care of that in exchange for sending people to their online stores (who might buy something else). If neither are into the idea I say we go with a firm like CafePress or their competitors because they already have things setup for taking orders, printing on demand, returns, etc.

That being said, I will open a new discussion in regards to art submissions in the next week and then we can start coming up with new graphics. I think we should have a quarterly competition for a graphic for the next season coming up and over time there will be lots of choices in forum branded stuff.

Hopefully in the end we will see lots of people around at rallies with their forum tees on and make some money for some worthy charities!

Great! I am all for anything that helps out our vendor supporters! (And for me not having to work on that end of it, whew! )

Thanks, Andy! I sure hope I didn't step on any toes. I would LOVE to have a choice of shirts, and hopefully the price can be kept to a reasonable point for a T-shirt (maybe $10 to $12 mark) since there will hopefully be a lot of orders.

How about winner of the design contest chooses the charity?

Thanks Andy for the thumbs up!!!

Iv'e been thinking about this since I saw the Air Forums stickers. (Can't wait til they arive.)
Definately a real good way to spread the word around to all the Streamers who are not yet aware of this GREAT SITE!! Maybe incorporate the Web address somewhere in the design. The charity plan is sooper.
How neat will it be to see other Forumites decked out in our own gear.

FULL SPEED AHEAD
