I'll sure give that some consideration. Depends on how successful I've been with the house building thing. If we're in the middle of that, I may not be able to be away for long. I do love the mountains, though.

Wherever you wander, Evelyn, the important thing is to go.

We're not getting any younger.

Mimi, re: the rally in April...March and April are our snowiest months. I will not break Goliath out till late May.....or June.

Maggie, how right you are! We are not getting younger....darn it! If you think you're feeling it now....wait till you hit 78!!!

Currently, I am fighting pneumonia, as Deb passed her chest cold to me, and it went straight to pneumonia. Thanks old age! We both had flu shots, but, that's not helping this.

Hope you're feeling better soon, Evelyn.

My doctor gave me a series of pneumonia shots a few years back...tho I've never had it, the shots are supposed to provide some protection.

I have had the Pneumonia shots, but, it seems that with asthma and advanced age....the shots have minimal effect.

There's a new pneumonia shot out that is supposed to fight more and different strains of the bug. My doctor gave me that one also. I'm sure there are pneumonia bugs around that neither shot protects against, so I'll keep taking my vitamins and praying.

Hope you recover swiftly and completely.

Camping season is on hold here by late May or June because of the heat. Spring in the Hill Country is a fantastic wildflower show, and the temps are moderate at that time of year.

My kids and grands just spent a couple of days in Galveston. That's another thing I need to do--go to the coast. It was too cold for swimming, but they enjoyed touring the historic sites and then went to an indoor waterpark.

Here is a link to the CDC on shots for pneumonia. I've had the disease over ten times, the lung disease I have is the reason. Good luck, I'd recommend everyone over 55 look into these shots.

Thanks, Bud. Good info. Advanced age and lung conditions do increase our chances to develop pneumonia. When someone comes near me with a cold, I am fearful, as I know I am going to get it worse! Covering one's mouth when coughing, frequent handwashing, hand sanitizers...all may help. I always get my flu shot!

Happy New Year fireworks help to bring in the new year 2017! The younger set in my neighborhood regale us annually with fireworks, but, thi year, I think their testosterone and alcohol fueled competition reached an all time high!

It was like a freaking WAR ZONE in the culdesac in front of my house for 2 hours! They used multiple M-80s, each one shaking my house so bad, I expected them to set off my security alarms. Artwork on my walls were all askew this morning. I truly was expecting to also find shattered crystal, but, luckily did not! My poor little doggies were trembling and crying in bed with me. All I could do was hold them close beneath the covers.

Nothing could help with my increased sound sensitivity and pounding head due to my current pneumonia. Just had to endure it till the hellish bombs ceased eventually.

I don't intend to deny them their celebration...if they were reasonable. But, for Christ sake...take the darn bombs away from the neighborhood. Keep in mind...it is illegal to have fireworks of any kind in our city! *#+?*#€!!!

A call to the local law enforcement is sometimes the only way to stop this kind of stupidity.

I wish it was that simple! There are not enough police in the city to attend to the mass stupidity n New Years and 4th July! These particular idiots always police up most of the evidence, so manage to get away clean. Maybe I should take my "own explosive" to the next one....or at least a blast from my marine air horn once they've gone to bed......now that may be a good idea....blast my marine air horn several times beneath their bedroom windows after they go to bed.....problem is, I would never do that to my sane neighborhood friends, many of whom are in my same boat....just trying to go to bed and sleep, in spite of the idiots! Oh well, hell!

It sounded like a small war zone here also. Fortunately all of them were some distance from my house, so no vibration damage. I did spend a good portion of the evening comforting the dog, though. Even though she's 80 pounds big, my Blackie is not fond of fireworks or thunder.

I would have definitely called the police, Evelyn, if fireworks are illegal.

There need to be some arrests made, and perhaps folks would abide by the law.

Might take it to your city council, if this recurs every year.

If there were any fireworks in Normal Saturday night, I slept thru them.

Most Fireworks are legal here in Florida, police have no control. Fireworks is a reason i dislike people in general, most never grow up with any respect for others.
