Adventures OUTSIDE COMFORT ZONE!

Oh, absolutely true! I heard that 'bless their heart' phrase so many times when we lived in Alabama....

And do keep in mind that these lovely mean-spirited folk will eventually get what's coming to them...as they say around here, "Karma is a bitch..."

I am a southern native, and grew up hearing and using "bless your heart". I've come to conclude that some folks just don't deserve that phrase. I think there is a level of evil in folks who seem to take pleasure in causing grief for others. The phrase that best fits them is not particularly ladylike.

Ah yes.

At work when my coworker is dealing with a person such as that on the phone, I have told her to say "Take Care" upon hanging up.

Because it is always appropriate to say Take Care.

However, in your head, you are saying *$!@ You. Let's you get the last word in, in a way that assures you a job tomorrow.

It's now a bit of a running joke in our office.

My poor GOLIATH!!! He is a victim of vandalism! Some S.O.B.s, (not the R.V.kind), drove through our nice quite neighborhood on the weekend at night shooting out vehicle windows parked on the street. 9 were hit on my street alone. It appears they used pellet guns and BB guns, and did lots of damage.

Mine must have been quite the prize, as they hit the large middle window on driver side....damage estimate: approximate $1300-1400. Also ripped off the antenae: ~$350. I discovered it yesterday afternoon when I went out to get the mail and walked around the RV. My heart sank when I saw it. Police have no clues as to who is responsible. This kind of thing doesn't happen here. Officer said it usually is hoodlums that drive into nice neighborhoods to just see how much damage they can cause.

Needless to say...I am just sick about this...and totally confused over this type of behavior by strangers. I'm just glad they weren't shooting with real guns. Someone may have been hurt or worse.

Boooo, Evelyn!

May up the incentive to get it into a secure storage facility.

Yes, Maggie, I am searching for a storage lot. I am on a waiting list ( #7)for one fairly close by, that is quite secure, and also has local police officer's RVs there...and an added plus...the police department conduct their K-9 training there at nights.

I am waiting for a call from the insurance adjuster to come and do their report. Anxious to make appts. for repairs as soon as possible.

This is the most remote thing I had ever expected. I've not seen this type of vandalism here in the 35 years I've owned this home. Certainly not drive by shootings.....thank goodness it was at vehicles and not people!

Is GOLIATH you daily driver?? Even though our city has the same type of law you have, they can't enforce it on a Sprinter van that is used as your means of transportation, especially if it has a handicapped plate. An Interstate is a VAN , with a few modifications. Just a suggestion. Federal laws (Disability) TRUMP city or HOA rules. AEW

Thanks, AEW, but, I have an SUV, as well. And certainly, given the vandalism episode, I will put it in a secure storage lot, as soon as I get it in for repairs and back.

The estimate just came in on repair of vandalism damages: $1600.00! Thank goodness my deductible will be $250.( I was $500., and I changed it about 2 weeks ago!)

I am on 2 waiting lists for storage lots, both seem good. There is one other that has a space, and is more expensive and not as nice, but, I may need to go there while waiting for my name to come up on wait list.

Mercedez-Benz dealer will do repairs. Service manager said this morning, the parts should be here in less than a week, from Jackson Center. Once they are received, he'll get me in 1-2 days, and another 1-2 days repair will be completed. I did not expect it to be that fast a turn around.

So, one step at a time, and everything will fall into place.

I would think your HOA would give you a reasonable amount of time to find a storage spot, Evelyn.

Good to hear that repairs are forthcoming.

I can't help but think it might be the person who complained about your having Goliath parked there. Another life lesson. Good luck.

Yes, Maggie, and I am in contact with the HOA president. She gave me till May 13, but, could not approve more. Of course, this is the time of year that folks are moving their RVs and boats in and out, so maybe something will open up soon. If not, last years lot will suffice till one better opens.

QWT, I don't think that was the case, as they hit 8 other cars on my street alone. The police are thinking kids are the culprits. We may never know....so far, no clues. It really stinks to have to deal with this, but,all one can do is move forward one step at a time.
I'm at a loss as to what life lesson this could be....other than to park "Goliath" in a secure lot and only bring him home to pack up and go camping...and to minimize his exposure as much as possible. But as I said earlier...no way would I have expected drive by shooters in this neighborhood!

I would say as to storage places. Trust your gut.

You want to feel 100% safe there when alone and your back is turned loading and unloading, or doing minor maintenance.

Also consider if its location allows you to get out of town without driving through a lot of commuter traffic.

And is there some shopping relatively close by? (hardware store, walmart, gas station)
