Hi Gail!

Glad you are having a good time.

The year Doug & I took the train from Chicago to Seattle and back, it was in October.

We rented an RV for a week and drove to the Redwoods and back.

A beautiful time of year out there.

I'm having a little apple crisp right now ....one of the privileges of adulthood.

Take care,

Maggie

I am conflicted about acknowledging the monthly anniversary of Doug's death, but can't seem to keep my mind off of it.

It feels a bit unhealthy, but my thoughts will simply not stay away from what was happening 7 months ago.

His kids deal with the same thing, I know. Maybe after the first year.....

It takes as long as it takes, right?

This sounds normal to Maggie. Part of the healing process IMO and the length of time required differs between individuals. You're a super trooper in my book.

Thank you.

It's only 7 months. There may come a time when I won't have these mental re-runs, but right now it's hard to imagine.

Looking for something to be grateful for......the pain now is not what it was then.

Our back yard is fenced in, and a coyote couldn't get in.....even if there were one in town, which seems highly unlikely.

There are the occasional fox seen.

I also watch her outside, so know for certain she didn't kill and eat the bunny rabbit. She does like to chase them and the squirrels, tho.

Whatever it was, it did a very thorough job.

You'd be surprised what coyotes can do with fences and where you'll find them. We live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex and used to have a pack of them right across the street. Too many houses there now, so they've moved. A friend who used to live a few miles west of us said he heard them closer to his house than he did when he lived on a ranch. I've seen one in the parking lot at work--near DFW Airport.

Fences are no particular challenge to them either. It's over, under, around or through.

Also, they are quite vocal. You'll hear them along about dark.

Good news for you is that they usually devour their prey completely. If Lily found the leftovers of that rabbit, it's unlikely that coyotes killed it.

Hi, our new house doesn't have a fenced in yard yet and I've heard that there are coyotes in the area. We have a doggie door leading into our garage so Boo-Boo can take care of business any time at night or when we aren't home.

Sounds like it was a great rally.

In my quest to find a decent, small-box wine, I picked up a Fish-Eye riesling this morning at the nearby (expensive) grocery store......where I only buy their produce specials, Sunday newspapers and my new-normal, Sunday breakfast....one of their freshly baked, adequate, muffins.

Fish-Eye, a south eastern Australian wine. Palatable, better than Bota Box. It was on sale.

Would like to find someone who sells the House Wine I found at that beautiful market in Minnesota.

Grands enjoyed dinner and apple crisp , and are tucked in for the night. 7 year old Emma needed to talk about her memories of Grandpa, and how much she misses him. She especially misses that she could still get him to pick her up and hold her....I knew that. The beautiful little girl, after 2 boys, who would like to be a little girl princess, Grandpa's girl, forever.

Emma talks the most about missing him. and is the one who keeps reminding us all of the first whatevers without Grandpa. She wants a picture of her with him, for the wall in her bedroom.

This was from this past Christmas, when she needed him to admire her new doll. Every time they were here, she spent some time curled up in his lap, and on Sunday nights after dinner would sit with him in the back bedroom and read poetry.

He was a good Grandpa.

Maggie,
We also love Fish Eye Pinot Grigio for Airstream travel.

Our recent travel to CA, our daughter treated us to handy portable "sparkling wine" with their handy attached sippy straws! What fun having bully on the beach watching sunsets ( gotta love CA...allows ETOH just no glass)!

You have a good plan there. One of our dogs disappeared years ago--just vanished. Only thing we ever figured out was that the coyotes got her.

Maggie that is a very good one. Here are two of my favorite in the same vein. These images are rubber stamps that I use to make greeting cards.

Blessings
