answering questions

Canoe- why bitmap? I don't know, when it asked how to save Jeff said jpeg. who knows. Markd- care we can deliver C-4 in small effective on target quantity! Stefi- Radio shack $20 1.3M pixel, yuk-auto shut off 60 sec. Milo-not even,came-yup yoda pez, Coastal-me too, O63-be my manager,Amerry- too funny.
Now I really want to thank Coastalview for helping upload while on Location and thanks to Richard-Azfly for his help formating. The sunbathing pics require a "clearance" to view. No I do not take plastic, just Fax me some money. I'll be watching you! DG

Gunner, that's pretty good for your first effort. I've got some new CNC housings for my woodpecker cameras and am getting the bug to start building systems again. Try hanging that camera on a mount at about a 30 degree downward angle to change the perspective.
You can go wireless video for not a lot of money and capture stills from video too.
Small CCD cameras start at 1 inch square and are very light. It's the battery power that brings the weight. Some systems run on 9 volt transister batteries.
Mine are at present a self contained wired system on a 50' Hastings section pole and are manually flown from the ground... check it out.

I want a rc helicopter..

Glen; Thanks for the mounting tips. This project came together quickly, last minute thing for the Casini Rally.I have seen lotsa different AP applications on the web. just getting my feet wet. I'm doing this for little $$.About $175 total. I am very familiar with the military UAV programs just wonder why ( actually know) their stuff costs so much!! That would be a whole other thread. The hardest part so far is imagining you are looking thru the viewfinder. More pics when I attend another Rally. BTW I have a couple R/C whirley birds- before buying one I would suggest you get a r/c flight sim, you will be bucks ahead just on what you will save on parts from wrecking the chopper, and you can fly anytime your computer is on. Enjoy. DG

When my husband was in college his roomies went in together on an RC helicopter - luckily he stayed out of it. Those things are a LOT harder to fly than they look. Lets just say it ended with a great deal of squabbling over who would be paying for what broken parts! That would be awesome for AP though!

I'm definitly going to get one of those $20 radio shack cameras. That's worth it just to play around with.

Stephanie, are you and I the only ones around here reading boingboing? MAKE: Blog: Maker Faire: Kite Aerial photography

Latest Platform at LZ Excella

Well I finally found what I was looking for!!
Ch-46 whirley bird. Even has the right paint scheme!
So for the last year and a half I've been messing around with still pics.
Movin up!!
Fixing to mount a "FlyCamOne2" video cam to this new bird.
Camera weighs 37 grams with a 2 gig card and battery installed, 640X480 video at 25 fps and 1280X1024 stills, should be fun.
Gotta start practicing in time for the Casini 09 event.
Anyone else messing around with this stuff?

Tim it looks like a lot of fun. I can't wait to see the videos. May be you can video an attack of some birds eating the grapes in your area...
