Only people that have my cell number is some of my friends, family and my boss. I never give the number out as a work number and I am expected to do so....screw that!. I made them remove my cell number off my business card. I work business hours and I have a phone on my desk. I don't want to be bothered with business calls after those hours.

If the cell rings it is usualy somebody I want to talk to. I never turn it off but it doesn''t ring much either because I am selective on who has that number. Its more peice of mind for me. If I have a problem I have comunications. If my wife has a problem she has a way to call out and find me to get help she needs.

I pretty well hate the phone at all. I don't care for talking on them often. I get on say what I need and get off and I expect people calling me to do the same. It drives my wife nuts but I refuse to even get up half the time to answer the phone at home. I got a kid approaching her teens and she has a pnumatic jaw that never stops flapping yet it rarely has anything important to say....it just flaps.

Most people that do call me call me on the cell so take that for what you will....That phone at home is almost never for me. LOL

It irritates the snot out of me when I'm talking to somebody and their cell rings and I have to stop having a conversation so they can answer it have another converstation with somebody else. I find it rude. Most phones have a silent mode....USE IT. I don't need to know your phone rang while I'm sitting in a resturant.

Driving...GET A HANDSFREE DEVICE. My middle finger aches from giving self absorbed idiots the finger for wandering all over the road or holding up traffic while yapping on the phone. You in a car...drive and don't risk my life for your phone call.

I'm all for handsfree laws! I have a headset with me all the time and our family rig/tow rig has a perment handsfree car kit in it. My hands are on the wheel when I drive and the phone is hung up when I am in traffic. People say I am rude and snotty and short when I am on the phone while driving...deal with it. If I'm short I am concentrating on driving and not getting me or anybody else killed. I have a very regular schedual. I will be driving from 8:20-8:50 am and 6:00-6:25pm. Don't call me then and I won't hang up on you.

Hahahaha I just had some girl in here that was about to cry about her phone being lost. She sounded like a crack addic with no drugs. I'm not even making it up! She was " I got to have a phone now!, I cannot not have a phone for any time, I need a phone now!" It was like the world could not possibly function if she didn't have that phone.

How pitiful is that?

we camped at Watson Mill Bridge State Park nr Athens, GA recently, could not get a cell there. My wife was nervous the whole time as our teen was in band Camp and we could not hear from them if something happened. I liked it though...... and we called on a pay phone ( imagine that) to check on him.

**cell Phones**

Cell phones do distract while driving. I don't like to use them while I’m driving. I believe people think "well I can coordinate a conversation and drive" but it's too risky! (IMHO).

I think the good outweighs the bad as far as having one though; I don't like being tied to one but I think the convenience is far better. At least I know where the off button is located.

I also have a pet peeve with how small they are getting. I have a tendency to yell into them where they are so small.

Our house is aluminum sticks and aluminum wrapped (kind of like a big airstream!) Nothing cellular works in it. We all have cell phones and it drives the kids crazy that the fossil parents always A. forget to have a phone with them or B. it isn't charged. I don't know why I keep paying on the bills. However my college son's cell phone is a joy as it is the ONLY way I have of getting in touch with him, even if it's leaving a message. Both kids know to call the regular home phone which I always answer. Even my dog has a phone of her own- a pawprint 911 alert phone- now if I could get her to stop pressing it whenever she wants a treat!!!!! We're working on that before it's officially hooked up. silver suz

59toaster,
if your on I-75 or Ga-400 during the times you are on the road you should be able to talk freely as you are probally stopped in traffic.

Well I haven't gone to the extreme and left behind all modern forms of communication. At the very least I would always have a radio around to listen to weather reports if nothing else. Now TV I probably wouldn't miss all that much since it has been forever since I have seen any type of quality show, That's not counting reruns.
As far as the cell phone goes, I guess as a business consultant I am expected to have one, but it does have one great thing - Voice Mail. This helps me because I never carry it into a meeting. I think it is a very rude pratice to answer your cell phone when your right in the middle of discussing an issue the client has just to say that you are with a client and will return their call later..........
