A Grandpa Twice Again!

I am so excited that my seat is swiveling with out a swivel. My face is formed into a permanent smile and my every words starts with: I am going to be a grandpa twice again!
My son and daughter-in-law knocked us over with the news that they are expecting a baby in November. How they ever kept the secret for so long when I see my son so often I will never know but it made it even more exciting! This will be their first. Then there is the long, long, long, long, long, long, adoption process my daughter and son-in-law are enduring. Well they are done with the paper work and waiting on China. It is possible that by this time next year I will have two new grandchildren!
My suggestion to my daughter -in- law and daughter, since both babies are going to be about the same age is that they use names which work together. Like my daughter-in-law can name her child Ding and my daughter can name thiers Aling. So far the idea has not caught on but there is time.

Kent, your suggestion brings to mind some long ago aquaintences with a son and daughter--Rock Bottomly and Belle Bottomly. Keep at it, your good ideas are bound to take hold... Have fun!

Personally, I like the old Roman idea or something like it--if they make it to a year, then they're actually fun. Have you got room for a chicken-wire pen in Chummy?

Congrats Kent! I hereby relinquish rights to valued names I hoped to name my children. Susie disagreed and I don't know why. Here they are -- Chandelier for a girl and Garage for a boy. Fitting, wouldn't you say? I know you will enjoy the experience. This will make the 'campground host' even happier & jollier!

Congrats! I hope you have two beautiful, healthy, happy grandchildren! If they are boys, how about Mutt & Jeff? Girls, Thelma & Louise? Or then there's always Bonnie and Clyde.... Stop me now!

I have a friend here in Virginia Beach, whose last name is "Beach" - and they named their daughter Virginia, and threatened to name their son "Buckroe" for Buckroe Beach in Hampton, Virginia. The daughter takes it in good stead, but for years her friends though her real name was Jen.

Happiness to you all. Paula

Seriously - be careful with names. I swear it's ALL the truth:

I have a customer named "Harry Pitts" - what were his parents thinking.

In high school I dated a young man named "Peter Dickey" - he changed it!

There is a business in Virginia Beach named "Butt Plumbing" - and the owner's name is A. Large..... (Alfred).... A Large Butt Plumbing - HONEST.

Hi there,

I almost thought of naming our first-born: Robert Loui Stevenson: you guessed it my dad's last name was Loui, and he is Steven's son..but we decided against it..

While a chaplain at the children's hospital here in Milwaukee there was a little girl named Epiphany. When I would visit she would tell me her mother told her that her name came from the Bible and then ask me to read from the Bible where her name came from. For several weeks I developed new translations of the Bible inserting the word Epiphany into appropriate stories. Then there was the baby named Dean Martin- why? The mother heard the name on the news the day Dean Martin died and thought he must be a famous person. I'll stop here.

Names are funny things...We have in our immediate area Peter and Richard Horney...of Horney Livestock Then there was the time I stopped by my local grocery store/bakery...the girl was having trouble spelling Fettucine...seems it was some poor child's name and she was putting it on a birthday cake...I suggested she check Aisle 4 in the pasta section

Anyway! Congratulation! and let us know the outcome of the unOfficial Airstream Name Lottery

Congrats for both - a grand child by natural processes and one by diplomacy and natural processes. May they both succeed and enjoy a healthful, happy youth.

I remember in Jr. High whenever we had a substitute teacher who was taking attendance- the boys would always ask "what about Dick Hertz?" causing the unsuspecting sub to ask "who's Dick Hertz?" causing a tremendous roar of laughter ......
Lesson learned from this? make sure the names aren't good substutute humor material!

Years ago, we had a training session on the Unit Management style of running prisons and housing prisoners. The session was given by an individual named Richard Wiggley. He went by Dick rather than Richard. Since many forms you fill out start with your last name, I asked him if took a little ribbing during his life. He just smiled and said "Yep".
