We look forward to meeting as well. We are heading to FL after Christmas and coming back up the coast in late March so we might be by Edisto, we used to have a place on Fripp, next Island South and love the area.
Merry Christmas and have a Happy and Safe New Year
Bud

That would be great!
I will be at Edisto the first two weeks of March, then doing laundry, cleaning, cleaning, and more cleaning after two weeks on the beach....before Alumalina the last weekend of March, after which I will head directly home to deal with taxes, etc.
Take a look at the Alumalina rally, Bud, if you are going to be in SC late March. A great group, and you would meet a lot of Forums friends,
Maggie

What I like best about Friday's these days.....I clean my little house, shake the rugs out, all that good stuff.
I can then sit down with a coffee or tea....admire my handiwork, and crochet for a bit.
This is pretty tasty.
Not a Tommie cappuccino, but very good for an instant, better than the Starbucks packets I tried recently, and beats a trip out for the real thing.

I've been reading about the rains and mudslides out there....hope you are safely away from a hill or embankment, Gail.
We have rain coming here Sunday, then more seasonal temps later next week, but I consider the unseasonably warm weather we have been having a gift...so that I can keep moving that woodpile.
Not done yet, but it is getting there. I have enough firewood, still, for this year and probably two more.

As warm as this winter is turning out to be, that wood will last a long time. I was dodging snow storms this time last year.

Yep...a single fire a day keeps the cave-like feel from settling on a house that is otherwise unheated.
Plus....the flame flickering behind the glass is so comforting to look at.

Doing brunch here tomorrow, and digging around for my Nana's sour cream coffee cake recipe....I came across this little gem from decades ago.
This makes the yummiest, richest hot buttered rum you have ever had, and will warm you to your toes....stores in your freezer, also makes really lovely gifts in jars.
Hot Buttered Rum Mix
1 lb butter, softened
4 1/2 cups dark brown sugar
1 1/2 cups honey
1/4 cup rum extract
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cloves
Mix together thoroughly, spoon into jars or other containers suitable for the freezer. Freeze.
To serve: 1 heaping tablespoon batter in mug, 1-2 ounces rum, boiling water to fill.
Stir, sip and be warmed.

I have had a new toilet paper holder sitting on my bathroom vanity for at least a month.
I started it, realized I would have to drill new holes....and that was the end of that. I am so not interested in those kinds of things.
There it has sat, but company tomorrow requires the toilet paper not be sitting on the vanity while the holes of the old holder glare at all visitors to the bathroom.
Pulled out the rechargeable drill, and just did it.

A Different Life II
Some men, unfortunately, are not what I would refer to as 'tool using animals'. But yeah, the ladies certainly can do this stuff if they want to..."it ain't all brute force and testosterone" as my daddy often said. Sometimes finesse and skill is the important part.

There's no finesse and skill going on here, just determination.

Determination will get you through it. Fitness and skill will follow given enough practice. Just don't let fear hold you back...

Hi, Maggie; Good job on the toilet paper holder. In my trailer, the holder was at a bad angle, making it nearly impossible to pull the amount needed without breakage at each sheet. And it would un-roll itself while on the road. My fix was to re-install my toilet paper holder vertically.
