No dizziness at this time, sinuses have drained all day and my head feels clear.

Mimi says there is some cedar here that most everyone is allergic to, which may be part of the problem.

Barely got on the road today, stopped for fuel and my ignition key snapped in half. Not quite sure how it happened, I found it in pieces and was dead in the water, at the pump, for 4 hours, when I was towed to a campground across the road.

Not easily replaced, our little keys, no locksmith in the area had the blank so it is being overnighted from Houston and I should have a key mid day tomorrow.

Yikes.

That’s three small rig mishaps already this trip, and I’ve only been gone 2 1/2 weeks.

I’m hopefully done.

Maggie

The locksmith has received my blanks, and is on his way to me.

I love people who do what they say they are going to do.

This is a really good book, I’m about halfway thru...

Fiction, but based on real events in Poland in 1941.

https://www.amazon.com/Winter-Journe.../dp/1489087672

Ordinary people, in extraordinary circumstances, most of whom were able to turn on their neighbors, butchering, raping, burning alive men, women and children, locked inside a barn.

We don’t know what we would do in similar circumstances, but I’d like to think I would stand up, speak the truth, and try to do the right thing.

The fact is, standing up to power is most often a death wish, literally or figuratively, as it was here...the powerful often act with impunity, for they know they will never be held accountable.

Thanks, Peter, tho a sense of achy/fullness in my head and slight nausea prompted me to take Tylenol and an antihistamine before I went to bed last night.

I have no appetite, either, and but for the gnawing in my stomach I simply wouldn’t eat.

Weird, but better this morning, and I have to think it’s that crazy, toxic cedar something down here that everyone is talking about.

We spent the night in pienjim’s courtesy parking...very nice folks, who I have finally had the privilege to meet.

Tho Lily could run free on the property here, she found herself out-matched by one of their dogs, more alpha than she, causing her to scramble into Mrs. pienjim’s lap yesterday while their Chloe gnawed at her hindquarters...no blood nor damage, just intimidation and dominance, but Lily then retreated to the safety of the Interstate and stayed there while we humans visited.

We’ll be heading on toward the beach today, will hopefully get to walk and have our feet in it, if not camp.

I’m hopefully done with small, untoward events.

Maggie

At the risk of vibe-ing this in the wrong direction, and with your permission to speak freely, if the nausea remains, or gets worse, you might consider having an MRI of the brain done IMO. [Experience with family members . . . ]

May the ocean air clear this up!

Thanks, Peter, I really think it is middle ear, but will remain aware.

We are at Padre Island NS, one of 10 or so A-C rigs spread out in the parking lot at Malaquite.

Works for me for a couple of nights.

This coming to you courtesy of my Weboost, turning 1x signal into 3 bars of good LTE.

I’ll take it.

Maggie,

Sorry to read of your problems, and my advice would be to get it taken care of right away (you know why). In one of my followup visits today my blood pressure was recorded as the lowest I recall ever being measured at (I had planned to talk to the Dr. about it being higher than usual). We concluded it is a combination of coming down off of my stressful week in the hospital, slight dehydration, and the second BP med they put me on while I was "incarcerated". I am directed to taper it off over the next 5 days and monitor my BP.

Please get yourself looked at and get to the bottom of this - I know you will, just providing a slight additional push.

Al

Great photo . . . the joys of off-season camping at the beach . . . hoping that sea air was restorative!

Walking on the beach yesterday, there is a second parking lot with rigs in it, 5th wheels and Class A’s, it seems.

There are park rangers patrolling here, also reportedly Coast Guard and Border Patrol.

These are the first federal park service I have seen since the shutdown, which may simply have to do with how close we are to Mexico...they may be determined “essential personnel.”

Dumpsters are in place and being emptied, everything is neat and tidy, water is on at the spigots, pit toilets are available and there is a dump station up the road.

A young man from Canada in a schoolie has been here for 3 weeks, and there are a number of vandwellers plus others in more conventional rigs who look like they may be set up for extended stays.

It’s free right now, there are some amenities, and it’s the beach.

Temps are mild, no heat needed and I slept with the windows open last night.

Maggie,
Saw how you got much improved cell signal with your Weboost. Do you have the directional antenna on a pole or the omni-directional antenna?

Thanks. btw - hope your dizzy spells are over. Been following your posts for a while now, have really enjoyed following your travels and travails as you go down this sometimes very bumpy road that is life.
Dave
