When they meet have the puppy follow Lily when both are on leashes, gradually get them closer and eventually side by side, walking the entire time, not touching one another but walking in a group walk. This too works wonders, Lily might just accept the puppy as a member of "her" family by him being a pup and you accepting him through the walk.

Thanks, Bud...I'll let you know how it goes.

We are well down into lower Michigan, and in a nice PA park for the next two nights, then in a different campground for Friday and Saturday.

Ready to stop moving for a bit...ride my bike, cook, finish this blankie I'm working on.

I cannot get under the hood by myself, so will enlist the aid of another every couple of days to check it for awhile.

I'd suggest you get the hood latch fixed so that you can get under there. It might be as simple as lubrication, or maybe a small adjustment.

As to trusting service people to have done what you paid for, unfortunately often you can't. The auto repair industry is rife with dishonest folks who cut corners. I wouldn't trust the same shop that failed to catch your brake problem last year. The philosophy of putting profit before the customer's safety often goes right to the top of the organization.

Checking fluids yourself is not a dirty job. Maybe a bit of oil on the hands, but the same gloves we use when dumping tanks will solve that.

Why is it we ladies are conditioned to believe that anything mechanical is horribly dirty and that changing diapers is normal? Personally, I think society has that one backwards.

I grew up as a widow's daughter. Leaving things to the men in the family wasn't an option.

Seriously, Mimi, I don't know that my fingers are strong enough to open the hood by myself, and I tend to generally be a klutz.

Going to get someone to help me here tomorrow, and look at the coolant...I do know where it is under there, because the man at Autozone showed me.

Maggie, Don't know if you have read the two preceding books or not by Ms Turner, if not I would highly recommend them. She has Memphis roots and her books really capture the area.

I don't believe that I have, Dalwyn, but I'll watch for them.

I get 99.99% of my e-books from the under-$5 bin, so often end up getting books in series out of sequence, but it seems the right thing to do....as I often buy 8-10 books at a time.

We are not going to be driving today.

Just sayin'
If someone fixes the latches like they should be, anyone's fingers are strong enough to open the hood. I'll bet something is just a bit out of line, or badly in need of some lubrication.

I get this newsletter and find deals on ebooks and have found several new authors that I enjoy from the free ones listed.

Mimi, we met at the Texas Vintage Rally. I sure would like to follow you around for a day or two: I would learn a lot.

That is a great site, Dalwyn, and I have subscribed....also bought some more books, and got some free.

Thank you!

Okay, folks...I have gotten the hood unlatched, and then opened, and then checked my coolant level, which hadn't budged from the fill on Sunday.

The first hurdle to opening that hood was.....I don't want to touch it!!!

I did enlist the aid of a gentleman nearby, who told/showed me the hood hadn't actually popped in my first attempt, then helped me find the latch and get it open.

The diagram in the owners manual actually shows you nothing about where this latch actually is, nor can you see it by peering underneath...at least I couldn't, and didn't know what it should feel like when I found it.

We then practiced once by myself before I opened the coolant reservoir...myself.

Done...another new skill I did not want to acquire, under my belt.

The nice gentleman, probably in his 80's, said I had made his day, that he loves to help people.

Wasn't that sweet.

It's what we do, we help each other out there on the road...and where would any of us be, without the kindness of strangers at some point, somewhere along the way.

Maggie
