Maggie sounds like the trip is going quite well.
With the storm damage how are the Edisto Shell pickings this year. Have you found some new candle vessels.

Glad to be missing snow and ice, Gail...near 70 here today, going to be a bit colder for a couple of days, but nothing like home and I prefer cool to hot anyday.
I am apparently not alone, as many folks I talk with here are in for several weeks or a month...we are not all heat seekers.
There are lots of shells on the beach, Hittentiehl, but I didn't pick anything up as I saw nothing unusual or that called to me.
I still have a pile of deep shells from last year, waiting for candles to be made in them, as I felt they would be too fragile to carry well on the trip west...plus, there was some heat to contend with enroute, which would cause the wax to soften and shift.
Will get those done when I am home, perhaps take some to Moraine View.

The muscle I pulled in my back yesterday, whilst trying to re-attach the cabinet hinge thingy, kept me up all night last night...spasm-ing with pain every time I tried to move. I could not get comfortable, no matter how I lay, and so slept like crap.
Better today, and if I can keep from tweaking it in the next day or two, it will resolve. I do not know how people live with chronic pain. I'm a big baby when it comes to pain, is the truth.
Did have a nice breakfast and lovely visit with Jane this morning, who squeezed me in amongst her full time employment as well as US/international travels for work.
A beautiful but chilly day here, park has filled up some for the weekend, including two big Prevost buses that came in together....how the other half lives.
Going to make tortilla soup with my leftover Mexican Chicken tomorrow...

Skyped with darling daughter and dear SIL this morning, who have finally begun packing for their move in a couple of weeks....me, I would have begun packing weeks ago, meticulously sorting like things together, labeling boxes as to contents, etc....but, that's just me.
She found this card put away, made by The Amazing Miss Emma, flower girl extraordinaire, on the occasion of their wedding nearly 5 years ago, when she was but 4.
This was Emma's drawing of their dog, walking my daughter down the aisle...Doug did this, of course, but they had wanted to have the dog in the wedding...prohibited by the venue they chose.
Such a sweetie, that child..tho they're all sweet.
Lily has had a long walk, bedding is done up, and we are foregoing leftover-chicken-made-into-soup for pizza and wings today...it is Super Bowl Sunday, after all, and Paisanos on Camp Road delivers to the campground office.
Tomorrow...in search of that fuse for the dash, and McLeod Plantation while it is still cool enough to leave Lily in the Interstate while I do the tour.
Several people have suggested that I get online and get her a therapy dog certificate, so she can go with me places service dogs are allowed, but I just can't bring myself to do it...tho she is great comfort, and therapy of a sort for me, it feels patently dishonest.
So, I structure much of what I do around whether she can come, too...and, it's okay.
We're a pair, she and I.

Good for you, Maggie, for declining to name Lily a therapy dog when she is not. I consider that to be in the same category as people who take handicap parking when there is nothing wrong with them.
It is hard for me to hold my tongue when someone parks in a handicap spot, jumps out and strides forward in a hurry. Obviously fit and strong, but, feeling entitled to take whatever they want. It is just wrong. Therapy designation for a dog is there for a very good reason, for those who have a real need for it, not something to allow for the entitled few. It is a matter of morals.
Enjoy your day. Evelyn.

A Different Life II
My dogs are also good for emotional support, in both directions. Designating them as a therapy dog, not so much. My son has two trained hospital therapy dogs that actively do patient visits. That to me is legitimate. Mine are just loving, silly pets that I talk to a lot...
IMHO, sanity is overated

Several very respectable people have suggested I get this certificate, but it just feels wrong...and we all know that if something doesn't feel right, don't do it.
If I would feel guilty, it would defeat the purpose, tho if I could muster a legitimate need, I would go for it in an instant.
Then again, be careful what you wish for, so I won't.
Going to find a beach to run her on tomorrow, while out and about...we haven't had enough beach time.

I've been gone from home about 5 weeks, and yesterday was the first mixing of bread dough of the trip.
I've been busy, and my frig has always seemed too full to hold the leftover dough, but I've missed it...ain't nothin' quite like your own bread, what's in the stores simply cannot compare.
Pan bread...it's what's for breakfast.

In search of perhaps a blown fuse on my dash, I located the fuse panel under the steering wheel all by myself, got it open, and purchased a "Fuse Puller/Tester" at AutoZone this morning.
Note that neither the owners manual nor the panel cover tells one which fuse covers my ailing button.
With the help of the nice young man at AutoZone, we checked all the fuses, which are fine...tho Lily did not want his head in the Interstate, and gave that sharp, warning bark that makes everyone pull back, so I had to leash her and take her out of there.
He wasn't afraid, but it seemed the prudent thing to do. Outside, she let him scratch her and rub her back.
I apparently have an "electrical" problem, not a blown fuse. Yippee.
The Dodge dealership here is squeezing me in early Wednesday morning.
Stuff breaks, stuff wears out and needs to be replaced...all part of the package.
We did get to Folly Beach and had a nice walk, tho Lily had to stay on leash the entire time as it was too late in the day to try an under-the-radar, leash-free romp.
She had a great time, anyway, played in the water and made a mess of herself.
That's okay, she's worth it.

Thank you....and I so appreciate the warm and kind hearts here.
I have met the most wonderful people thru these Forums.
Have just changed my reservation here to leave on Saturday, as the plan is now to meet D & SIL at their new house after the closing on the 15th!
They are going to have to move on Friday, as their apartment building with only one elevator will not allow them to move on the weekend.
800+ miles from here, and think I will poke thru the Outer Banks one day on my way up there...because, why not?
I have my house on my back, and everything I need.
I'm so excited for them, and glad I can be there to help.
Supposed to be 73 here today, sun is shining and it is beautiful. We've already had a long walk, going to make that soup in my IP... after I try doing a piece of pan bread in there to have with it.
It has a sauté function, so it should work...

My dog does the same thing! It's kind of cute and funny at the same time. They do bring us smiles when we need them!
