Raining as I type, Jim, tho we're not supposed to get anything too serious here...thanks for asking.

I still have purple bird poop on my roof from the birds at Tybee in the tree at my site, who were happily devouring some kind of berry, so am hoping it rains hard enough to clean the rest of that off.

Have been to the car wash, but couldn't angle the wand properly to get it all...needed a ladder, or a man with good balance to stand on the bumper.

Maggie, could you post a link to the pot you are using? It sounds interesting.

It's an Instant Pot, and I'm liking it.

There's a thread on it here, I will find it and add.

http://instantpot.com/

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f484...ot-155429.html

My dash button is repaired....it was actually the central locking mechanism that went out. No locks, no way, none.

Lily is my best and first defense, but still...one needs to be able to lock their vehicle.

But, fixed.

Kudos to Hendricks Dodge et al, for squeezing me in after a call to them on Monday.

Maggie, so glad you got that fixed. Wow! Unable to lock your "house"....very unsettling! Lily had to do double duty! I'm sure she would be up to the task, but, still.... Thanks to that Dodge dealer for finding and fixing the problem for you. Be safe. Evelyn.

Knowing I had to be up early and fight morning traffic yesterday to be at the Dodge dealership at 7:30am, I didn't sleep well Tuesday night, was wide awake at 4 am, etc., etc., so was sleeping hard last night when the most pitiful, plaintive, whining woke me up from a sound sleep.

Lily was out of water, and very thirsty.

I usually check and fill her bowl before I go to bed at night, but apparently forgot last night in my tired-and-looking-forward-to-sleep state.

Pitiful...piercing...whining. She may have been at it awhile, trying to wake me up.

She quickly downed a bowl of water...bowls are proportionately small out here...and half of another.

Then, sound asleep once more, I feel her wet nose on my cheek, and she is sitting very close....it is storming and thundering, she is scared and needs comforting.

I turned toward her, she cuddled up close, I put my hand on her leg to maintain contact, and went back to sleep once again.

Sigh. Life with a sweet dog.

Hi honey!

I've been watching the weather, too, and will proceed carefully.

I'm going to drive up thru the Outer Banks on Saturday, then get on 95 for the remainder of the trip.

I will sit out any storm, but hopefully it will have passed on thru before I get terribly far north, and 95 will be cleared, up and running .

My plan is to stay in the Interstate in their driveway, because Lily and I will be most comfortable there, but there is a snow factor, also a cold factor, to factor in, so that plan may change.

I don't want to re-winterize....

In the meantime, I really wanted Chinese for lunch today but couldn't find anyone to deliver to the campground, so whipped out the IP and am making mac'n'cheese...I have a piece of ham to cut up and put in there.

On Sauté, the water came to a boil in about 5 minutes.

Where I have it stored in the galley, it is easier to pull out than a saucepan, and uses the electricity rather than my propane.

Going to be in the low 30's here tonight, with a freeze warning, mid 50's tomorrow and mid 70's on Saturday.

Hi Maggie,

I am an IP lover and have used many times while camping and at home.

Though I am not much of a bread maker, I know that you are quite skilled in that.

The IP has a yogurt function. People use the drained whey (when making greek yogurt) for their bread (or to give to their dog as a treat). I have also read that people proof bread in the IP. You may have seen this, but on the off chance you didn't - just thought I would mention it...

Safe travels,
Katy

Hi Katy!

I knew you were an IP fan, and your rave reviews were one of the reasons I finally bought one.

I knew they made yogurt, but my household of one just couldn't consume it fast enough....tho I had a yogurt maker when my children were young, and made it all the time.

Bread would proof well in an IP because it seals so nicely and you could heat it just a tad before putting the dough in...I will keep that in mind.

I am looking forward to exploring its' many cooking possibilities.

Maggie

Tomorrow is a "go" day, and when I know I'm going to "go", I just want to "go".

Interstate is cleaned and tidied, laundry is done up...need to fill the fresh water tank, and I'm ready.

If it seems I do laundry a lot, that is not really the case...or maybe it is ...but at least weekly ...if you've ever been inside an Interstate, you know there is no place to "hide" laundry....you are always looking at it.

So, I keep it done up.

Anticipating driving into cold, below freezing temps, and perhaps some snow and other unwelcome frozen precipitation, I called Safelite this morning to deal with a deep chip in my windshield. They came out, took care of it beautifully, and left with only a nominal amount of my $.

I've been looking at that chip awhile, and am trying to get past the if-I-ignore-it-maybe-it-will-fix-itself approach to what seem to me be optional maintenance and repair issues...like the broken day/night shade in the rear, held up with Joe's Sticky Stuff since last fall, I believe.

I've decided to replace those dirty-anyway two, just need to order them, and am then going to beg some help to install them from someone more handy than me.

Fairly straightforward, it seems....

A slow news day here in Charleston. Have enjoyed my stay in this beautiful park, visiting with the familiar faces here and got to see Jane...not Betsy, but maybe next time.

Onward and northward in the am.

Good morning, Maggie. Still following your travels. I wish you luck on your trip north, as you are heading toward some bad weather conditions. Please be careful. Evelyn.

Good morning, ladies.

I am indeed watching the weather.

On the road 5 hours or so, stopped in Wilmington, NC for fresh seafood.

Lily, in "go" mode.

Took 17 north out of Charleston this morning, along Sweetgrass Basket Highway, which abounds with small stands selling these beautiful, handmade items.

I have a piece of this, and one is enough.

Drove thru Myrtle Beach, reminding me of why we avoid these busy places , and on into NC, making a stop at Surfside Beach for a walk and wild Lily romp.

A longer day than I like to drive, but we are settled into a campground north of Wilmington for the night...where I think we have been before, years ago, and pre-Lily, I am sure.

Was going to drive thru the outer banks, but remembered you have to ferry onto the southern tip, and I just don't wanna...maybe another time.

I remember the first time Doug and I were out there, when we took the ferry and spent a night in a beach parking area...it was February, nobody was around to care, and we listened to the waves crashing all night. Lovely.

I'm tired, ready for a shower and a glass of wine, methinks.

Just checking in.
