Maggie, I'm sorry to hear you are still having rough days. It took several years after my Mother and then my Sister passed for the rawness to stop being worn on my sleeve.
Now, my Dad passed two days ago, 6/30/16, he would have been 100yrs. old in November. And it is all beginning again -- except this time it is worse, I was always very close with my Dad, he was the most loving, nicest person. I feel as tho my heart is broken, and the tears come in waves suddenly, sometimes when least expected. I know he would not want me to be so sad, but there is not a switch there to turn off.
Thinking of your saying you may not go out on the road again because there is too much time on your hands. I have long thought you are so brave emotionally to do that traveling. I totally understand your statement.
Take care, Maggie and know that we all are traveling with you and reading your posts daily.
Deb

Im so sorry to hear of the loss of your Dad, Deb.
No, there is no switch to turn off, you have to just deal with the waves as they come.
Your Dad sounds like a wonderful man, and how very fortunate you were to have been so close to him.
That is a gift not everyone gets...you must keep that in your heart, and cherish those memories of nearly 100 years.
I will of course still travel, but not like this, and have decided I'm going to head home in the morning.
Maggie

Thank you Rachel and Maggie.
Yes, my Dad was one in that "Greatest Generation" which Tom Brokaw wrote about. He was always the first there to lend a hand if anyone needed it. And during WWII he went back several times to ask them to change his draft status so he could help in the fight. (He'd broken his back in the late '30's so they didn't want to take him even though he had no appearance of having difficulties from it.)
Safe travels Maggie and Lily!

Home, and glad to be here.
Settled back in and have had a nice soak in the tub....there are few things that can't be improved on by a hot soak in a lovely smelling water.

First, where did you find the little rose? I've got to have that.
I am meeting Mimi for a couple of days at a campground just north of me.
We will talk and drink tea, perhaps cook a bit, and do whatever we like.
She is on her way to Wisconsin, I will then spend a night in Iowa City before going on to MN to spend a few days with friends....then, Wyoming and points west.

I was looking for an appropriate emoticon for you and saw that with your name on it. Sometimes during an update they add new ones, it's kind of nice.
I read recently that using emoticons is quite passe but I've only just started using them and I like them. So much is lost (tone of voice and emotion) in writing here but you can't confuse a smile.

I am so used to using emoticons here that I find it hard to properly express myself in emails without them.
