Maggie my Oma & Opa always served it just that way.
On something neutral, pound cake , sponge cake, vanilla ice cream etc. And a warning to go easy on the topping as it's an adult topping.
I bet it's going to be delightful and could even be served warmed.

I think I'll just stick with the pound cake, and someone else is bringing vanilla ice cream...it will be good.
K.I.S.S.
Val warns to take it easy with the fruit, as it is potent.
I need to find a very small ladle.

I don't think this stuff is shippable...you should see what I did to it to package it up for CanOpener.
Val has already started another batch, but I won't until berries start coming in next Spring.
Kinda fun.

I got a PM from cwf a little while ago. Hillsboro is between here and Bryan where my daughter and her family live. I'll try to arrange a meeting on one of my trips south.

Seeing myself most of the time in just a bathroom light, I don't realize how grey I am until I see a recent photograph of myself...like the selfie I took in Chicago last week.
Ahh, well....we get older, or we die.
Little house is cleaned and vacuumed, and my staging area by the front door has grown immensely.
There is a phenomenal amount to do, and to load up, in preparation for being gone for three months.
I think I'm going to break with tradition and turn the space heater on in the Interstate tomorrow, so that I can load items in the morning that might freeze before I leave on Sunday.
It will make Sunday less stressful.
We had wind chills in the teens again last night, but the sun is shining brightly and there is no precipitation to deal with.
Can't complain about that, having left in snow and ice in more than one year past....when Doug was doing the driving.
Solo me, tho not by choice...

It's too (expletive deleted) cold on a mountaintop this time of year. Dispensing wisdom that way will have to wait for summer.
BTW, DIR1, thanks for the compliment a few posts back. I think the same of you.

Thanks, Mike.
I'm reminding myself that loading and unloading, winterizing and de winterizing, etc., is the price one pays for the privilege of traveling.
No point in whining about it...if I want to go and do, this is part of it.
Gathering together yarn, needing to take as much as I can as no point in buying more when I already have so much.
I've decided I will continue to do prayer shawls while I'm gone, in between winter hats and scarves, and can just ship them back 2-3 at a time.
Why not? I and Hospice can continue to get volunteer hours, I will use up my yarn stash. and the finished items will not take up precious space.
Sigh.

I am chuckling as I read your posts, ladies! LOL! Just because we have white hair (and perhaps some wisdom to share), does not mean anyone will climb that mountain to hear it.
I envision one or two of us "old wise , white haired ladies" sitting in a high mountain cave, wrapped in a bear skin cloak...( one which we, of course, procured on our own, using only our wits and a big Bowie knife)....sitting up there, wondering why no one is climbing up here to partake of this magnificent wisdom we are eager to share...to the deserving few.
I think they must be waiting for us to decend? After all, this is not the movies....they send their stunt double to climb the mountain, while they are snug on the movie set...
Waiting for said sage wisdom. (Smiley face.)!

I don't know anyone who would climb a mountain to hear what I have to say, but that doesn't keep me from sharing my thoughts before those who might run have a chance to.
Not always, but sometimes.

Maggie, I do admire your grit, departing in your AI, surely facing some snow, ice, freezing temps along the way. Please be careful, as there are certainly a lot of bad roads out there now, due to bad weather. God's blessings for you and Lily for safe travels and sunny skies.
Evelyn.

Thank you, Evelyn, but trust that weather is clear here, and where snow and ice could be present....it is not, and not predicted.
Freezing temps are a non-issue...done that before, and I will remain winterized until well south.
My preferred travel is off the major interstates, but this time of year the goal is to simply get south, fast, so they are my route.
I will be well south by the end of the day Monday, and will look for a spot to de-winterize and fill with fresh water before going further.
Should be smooth sailing, all the way to the Gulf.
Maggie

Mimi!

Yes, Maggie, I know most of them. John was not a man to be careful about language when he was angry. And a career spent among pilots is sure to expand one's vocabulary in that direction. I do try not to use too many, though.
I even know a few expletives I don't have to delete--Wow! Oh! etc.
