Morning Maggie, could you please remind me of the wine🍷 you like that had the ladies name. Going to add it to a party menu but couldn't remember the name (and not enough patience to go back through and look)😔 thanks in advance

Hi Hittenstiehl!

It's Sofia Coppola Blanc de Blanc..

I like to keep these little ones in my frig, for when I find any small reason to celebrate.

They also have the same thing, in a regular bottle...pink, wrapped in pink cellophane.

The Interstate is now in storage, and my driveway is empty.

Lily and I walked the couple of miles back, so we are done for the day.

The peanut butter we use is made by Kong. Not as fatty as people peanut butter plus they make other flavors. All we have to say is peanut butter and they both come running, Hopey gets her pill and Abby gets a small dab of the stuff too.

We had some serious storms come thru here yesterday, and in order to keep Lily out of my chair with me, I moved me and my crochet-ing to the couch...where she wedged herself between me and the back.

This is my lap...

What lap? There she is, part of the crochet, snuggling in tight.

We thought of you when they did the game rain delay and showed the storm map moving in.

Her most comfortable place during thunderstorms is between me and the back of the couch.

She seems to feel safe there, tucked in, with no trembling and shaking, so that's where I go...for her, during storms.

There was very large hail in parts of our area, but we didn't get it here, thank goodness, tho the winds brought a lot of leaves down.

I'm not a sports fan, but am pretty tickled at the Cubs victory, and there are a lot of very happy people in Illinois.

A nice diversion from the silly season.

It's been a beautiful fall day here, looks like we're going to have one of those protracted seasons that really allows one to enjoy the time between.

Finished my shrug this morning, stitching in the side seams, and washed it up...it is quite nice, I'm very pleased with it, now ready to wear when it is cool enough.

Uber'd over to needlework group today, then walked the mile or so back...if only I could take Lily with me, we could have two walks in one.

Found this when I was searching other people's words the other day...I like it.

Oh that's a good one, saved it.

A beautiful day here also. I do believe we may have finally exited our insanely hot AZ summer.

A smidge of fall in the air and a light wind. It will blow some of our ozone smog away so we can see our local mountains.

Going to circle the wagons (Airstreams) this weekend in the yard for a party. Hopefully we don't run them into each other and maybe well make a sob convert.

I finished last night "Many Lives, Many Masters", by Dr. Brian Weiss, written in 1988 by this psychiatrist about the past lives of his patient which came out under hypnosis/regression therapy.

Very good, very interesting and very informative.

A slow news day at the little house...now cleaned, rugs washed then dried outside, and a brisk walk taken with my favorite, four-legged companion.

Going to work on the yard some tomorrow, mostly dried out after the torrential rains of a few days ago, as leaves are amassing.

Been crochet-ing scarves to send off to Faithworks Ministries in a couple of weeks, and have a box about half filled. Using up my yarn stash, too.

Grands will be here overnight next weekend, for our annual Wild Leaf Romp, bonfire and hot dog/marshmallow roast.

One of these years, they're going to start dropping off...they'll be too old, have jobs, be out with friends...life and growing up will interfere,

Going to relish it while I've got it.

Hi Gail!

I pulled some weeds early this morning, and then got out the hacksaw to trim some dead branches off my dense yews in the front of the house.

Not an easy task...on my hands and knees, underneath the yews, sawing with the hacksaw.

I'm sure I was a sight, but I had it mostly done when my neighbor came over and offered his help....I accepted, and he cut the last few, thank you.

We got it done, branches hauled to the curb, and I de-leafed the front yard from the storm the other day....leaves that came down not fully turned, but unable to resist the wind and heavy rain.

It's a beautiful day here, laundry is outside drying, and Lily is fixin' to get her walk....I am resting a bit, and getting debris out of my clothes and hair.

I bought another Brian Weiss book for my Nook, and am going to immerse myself in that later today.

Maybe have a glass of wine...

I had to have a fire this morning, tho am going to resist the temptation to feed it even once, lest it drive me out by afternoon.

Fire soothes my soul...there's just something about it.

I've had this deep seated need for a number of years to know and understand more about World War II and the Holocaust...not really sure why, but that both of my maternal grandparents were in it, he a surgeon and she a nurse.

I've felt a more personal connection to this war since learning for the first time last summer that I am 4 1/2% Ashkenazi Jew.

And so, I read, and occasionally find a movie on Netflix on the subject...then psych myself up a bit to finally watch it.

I have had "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" in my List for a long time, and watched it a bit ago.

I can't describe it without giving it away, but it is very moving, very sad, very much worth watching.

A slow news day at the little house...rented a car today for a doctor's appointment in Peoria, so did some other shopping and stocked up a bit.

A major snafu with my appointment that has been scheduled for a year, but they have an on-site "fixer", and "fix" she did.

Good girl, and I told her she got four stars today.

Not having a vehicle in one's drive makes one more thoughtful about when to pick up 35lbs of dog food, etc.....look at me honey, carrying the heavy stuff.

Lily has spent much of the day alone, with me in and out, tho has likely spent it napping hard after walking/running with me to my son's for dinner yesterday.

We're having a beautiful fall here in Central Illinois, and Lily finds the weather most invigorating.

I've rented a small cabin on a river in the Adirondacks next August into September...got a very good rate for two consecutive weeks, and I am looking forward to doing something different.

My daughter and sweet son-in-law will drive up from Brooklyn to spend a long weekend with me during that time, but otherwise we will be solo cabin-ers... Lily will be able to run free, we will walk, hopefully use the fireplace and enjoy that beautiful area.

Something different, in my different life.

Tomorrow....we vote.

Maggie

The Adirondacks is one of my favorite places. We have kayaked a number of the smaller lakes over the years. Be careful with Lily running free - the area like many areas is full of Coyotes.

It's so bad here only nine miles from city center in Pittsburgh the other night one was right outside our back fence, and Hopey went absolutely wild barking and growling and chased it off.
