Enterprise has a very decent weekly rate.....and, will come to pick me up ...so getting an economy rental today for the next two weeks, which will basically cover the middle of the time I am here.

Seems the way to go, for me. A bit of a luxury winter trip, by my usual spend less, do more standards. but I want to really poke around Charleston and the surrounding area....and the Interstate is not the way to do that...so I'm just going to do it.

Going to visit some historic sites I have not been to, and thoroughly explore old Charleston and its very narrow streets.

Different life, different plans.

Rain here today, but the serious weather will be well north, and it is a good 40 degrees or so warmer here than at home.

It is starting to look like NOLA-type rain here.....you know, where you can barely see, and the streets fill with water ....but, it is not snow, and it is not sleet.

I do have a cute little Nissan something...not that car rentals ever seem to go seamlessly...but I do have it, and just made my lunch with sweet Jane, aka Skitique, who is lovely, and had lots of tips on places to go and see while I have the car.

Lunch was the most delicious dish I have ever eaten, a huge plate of shrimp & grits, with enough leftover to feed me again. Yum.

I feel a bit wired from tearing around thru my not-seamless morning.

Going to relax and stay out of the rain the rest of today, and we will go exploring with our cute little car tomorrow.

Hi Maggie.
Good to see you are managing well...in spite of less than fun start of the day. I have been so worried about you! Not so sure about your location.....in relation to "most historic big storm" hitting the eastern seaboard this weekend. I'm sure you have info well in hand and will be out of harm's way. Stay safe and enjoy your touring an historic city. Evelyn.

No need to worry about me, Evelyn.

We are well south of anything that is freezing, thank goodness.

You might not want to miss the tree....it is quite a site and on the cover of so many books and just down the road a bit from the campground.

That tree looks familiar......reminds me of the live oak forests on Cumberland Island.

Rain is supposed to be over for some days, some tootling around is planned, so we'll see what I come across.

is it just me or does it seem there is more hype to storms than there used to be?

My theory is that the Millenials have been so coddled that some day a passing cloud will generate similar reactions.

I think it's the product of 24 hour news coverage......so many things become worst case scenario, whipped into a frenzy, but then don't come to fruition.

2 feet of snow in DC right now......that's pretty impressive.

It is 35 here, with predictions of snow showers today, but a high of 45 with nothing sticking.

I can do that.

21st century journalism seems to blow everything out of proportion. Add in that people have not had to cope with a serious winter storm in going on 50 years and it is no wonder that very few know how to cope.

True....but the same things happen with the stock market...catastrophizing.

I listen to my EJ guy, who I trust completely.

If he tells me to do something, I do it. If he is not concerned enough to contact me about something going on in the news, I don't give it any credence.

A lot of folks listened to the talking heads on tv when the stock market took a dive, and lost a lot of money pulling out.....Josh said it was an overdue correction, we would recover, and to sit tight....which we did.

A treasured, fabric of our lives relationship.

I am marking places to visit on my PocketEarth app.

Having the car is going to make this an entirely different experience.

Too cold and windy to explore the beaches today.....but that will come.
