It was cool enough overnight that I have the roof heater on this morning.

Did some inside cleaning yesterday, and Febreeze-ing up front, to rid the innards of the stale, dog dander odor that permeates in damp weather. Booger dog.

Windshield cover on, awning out, I shouldn't have to move til I leave, as the laundry here is just a walk up the hill. I like campgrounds with laundry facilities.

I got a customer survey from Edisto yesterday.....gave it very high marks. . The Rangers there, and also here, are very willing to drop off a mail parcel directly to your site, which is customer service I really appreciate when staying in a place an extended period.

When you are gone 3-4 months, sometimes you need things.

I started a loaf of wheat and steel cut oat bread yesterday, so there will be some fresh for breakfast. I used my last batch up several days ago, and I miss it. I'll get a picture after awhile.

Going to be a beautiful day here, and we are going to walk to the lake.

Giant pan bread, about 10" at its widest, and will feed me 2-3 times

This was about 1/3 the new batch of dough.

Yum.

We got down to Lake Jocassee, and it is beautiful....clear as can be, clean and pristine as the rest of the park.

And...I heard loons out there.

The "path" to the lake from the campground is little more than a small rut on a steep hill ...a bit daunting for one with bad knees, and no one to hold onto should I lose my balance, so we snuck thru a couple of the empty lakeside tent sites and got down that way.

Lily actually bounded down the last few feet, while I stayed safely on a ledge just above.

She got a drink and tested the water, that's what she wanted.

Maggie,
If you do any day trips consider walhalla sc http://www.oconeecountry.com/walhalla.html

It's west of you. If you like trash and treasure antique stores they have three downtown that are not bad.

Jocassee is nice.

Thanks, Gary.

I'm not planning on any day trips, but we'll see how I feel this time next week.

I love antique shops, especially the filled-to-the-brim, junky kinds , so I'll keep Walhalla in mind.

I'm ready for Alumalina.

There is a one man shop downtown, requires breadcrumbs or a GPS to navigate.

If you felt up to a short hike you are in the SC waterfall area. I bet the office has the map. Some are a few feet from parking area others longer walks. The Oconee station IIRC falls was really nice but requires a hike thru a near untouched hardwood forest.

Are you going to tell me where to find the breadcrumbs, Gary?

I might go over there next week, dump my tanks, etc.

Good morning, Maggie. I'm glad to see you made it safely to your latest destination. It sounds nice. Since you refer to Lily as "booger dog" often, does she come to you when you call her that? LOL! In her last pic, she looked so adorable sleeping. (But then, they all do.)

Our little Pom, Bella is wild and rambunctious, racing around, playing, antagonizing the other 3 relentless....then, will just flop down, go to sleep, looks like a little angel doggy.....for 10 minutes, then she's all wild and crazy again!

Post up a pic of your nice surroundings if you get a chance. Listening to the loons sounds heavenly.

Glad to see you found my new posting, ADVENTURES OUTSIDE COMFORT ZONE. I sort of borrowed on your idea for your thread. Hope you don't mind. Drop in often.

Evelyn, if you go back a few posts you will see a picture of my current site.

Beautiful and sunny again today, and we have been doing lots of tromping around. It has been warm enough here late afternoons that I have turned the AC on til the sun is down.

Lily, laying in here panting, looking at me....can't you do something about this??? So, I do.

Nothing really to report...walking, crocheting, reading...repeat.

I do think I'm going to dump my tanks, then drive into Walhalla on Saturday.

Antique shops sound appealing, and there might be a nice coffee shop.

I was determined to get down to what beach there is here, and dared myself this afternoon to go down the very steep incline to a bit of sand, rocks and clear water.....made it down slowly, sideways, without slipping and falling, threw sticks into the water for Lily to fetch...she had a blast, tho doesn't know she can swim so will go only as far as her head is above water ......then, back up.

Nothing to hold onto, and if not a 45 degree incline down it is pretty darned close.

But, not wet today and so not as intimidating as Tuesday when I first looked at it.

I did it.

Lily is exhausted.

Glad you both made it to the swimming hole! You can also use the divers boat ramp as you can just walk down to the water. Sometimes the ramp gets slippery though. When leaving the camp area turn left {head away from the ranger office} & I think you can see it down the road on the left. The ranger can tell you for sure. No boats allowed on that ramp.

Wish we were camping there! . My dogs were so tired after playing on the beach at Edisto. They did leave bunches of sand in the car though. It looked like they emptied their pockets.

Have fun,
Jane

I do know about that Edisto sand, tho I think Lily rinsed the last of it out of her today in the lake.

This is a lovely place, Jane, and thanks for recommending it.

I suspect Lily-in-the-lake will become a daily event while we're here.

Our second walk of the day was thru the campground and down to the little rental place by the lake, where a large tent is set up.

I thought, perhaps a wedding tomorrow?....no, it is the Oconee Bellfest, a festival celebrating the Oconee bells, this flower that grows along a trail here in the park.

Music, crafts, food, the usual festival things. What luck!

I love local festivals, so we will stop in there before heading to Walhala.

A pretty rare flower from what I hear.

http://etvradio.org/post/oconee-bells

Listen to Rudy Mancke describe them.

Have you tried going down to the shore via the tent campsite trail? Might be easier navigating.

There is some pretty popular restaurant downtown. Might be the steakhouse cafe. Not 100% sure but always looked really busy.

I haven't found that trail....tho now that I have successfully navigated the steep one , as long as that is not wet I will probably use it, as there is a small beach area at the bottom.

Parking lot for tent sites across from showers. It's in the loop to the left as you enter. Head down lot, follow to shore IIRC.

Back to the lake this afternoon, through the tent sites, down and around thru the woods, ending up at the same little beach.

Lily actually swam out to sticks I threw for her today, tho not very confident with it and turned around after a few seconds of paddling if she didn't get to her target.

But, she swam, and now she knows she can.

Crashed on the couch, it wore her out.
