Crazylev, we surely can commiserate with you on that! Lets hope as we welcome in the new year that we all get through these hardships and onto more prosperous and productive years ahead as soon as possible. Critical times hard to deal with. I suspect as we hear Aulde lang Syne it will be far more bittersweet than any years of old for many of us. I hope there will be many small miracles for all of us to delight and capture our hearts.

Eric, I hadn't heard about the leap second to bring the atomic clock into harmony with the earth's rotation. I wonder if all the count downs will do 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1-1-0

Now Vinnie, I thought for sure you'd be howling at the moon, suppose it's better we know you are tucked up safe in your bed. Sorry you have to work on New Year's Day. At least you wont be bothered by any pesky hangover!

Happy new Year Willyd and an entire year of good 'nother days for you.

Wayne&Sam that is a brilliant idea of turning the clock ahead. I like that idea. It makes good sense. I have no superstitions about chasing away the spirits at the stroke of midnight. No need to be on the road or up to all hours to have a new year celebration.

We're sending 2008 off with love so it doesn't come back...LOL!

Actually, we'll probably sleep through the witching hour.

Will be celebrating the advent of 2009 by making a big ol' pot of white bean soup tomorrow. Debating on putting a sign outside the airstream saying "no smoking -- methane in trailer"

(did I just say that?)

Here's hoping for a healthy, peaceful, propserous and happy 2009 for us all!

And me, I just figured out time zones will vary and I am clueless over the one I was using because that's not right as I can see it either.

Before Dick Clark there was Guy Lombardo

Should auld aquaintance be forgot, and never brought to min'..."Auld Lang Syne" was played by Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians as a New Year's Eve song for the first time on December 31, 1929. This was the first time that Lombardo's group played it at the Hotel Roosevelt Grill in New York City to usher in the new year. The annual tradition continued when the party moved to the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel (1959-1976) and the song still kicks off the Times Square celebration every New Year's Eve.

For best viewing, when video player opens press pause until progress indicator bar has shown buffering to be finished, then press play arrow.
