2006 Airstream Classic Motorhome Spy Photo!

While travelling around Arizona this winter ... I was lucky enough to snap this photo of the new Airstream Classic Motorhome.

The guy driving it said they were still working out the design flaws. This particular unit had the optional Penthouse Suite.

Umm, it looks like a city bus with an armored car mounted on the back...

I love it! It's a traditional aft pilothouse, flush deck highway schooner.

Good thing they built the new plant so they can keep up with the orders that will come flying in!

Whew! Despite it's "classic" and highly "arrow-dynamic" lines, it looks as though the `ol silver fish may still be safe. And to think I was worried — ?

CW winner

Actually guys, that's the winner of the camping world makeover contest. It's been primed for paint and I heard that it will have graphics like the Virgin Mobile airplane. That IS an armored car up there...good eye argosy. It is being donated to the Commanding General in Iraq since they've decided to stay a little longer over there. They will of course repaint it at OUR expense into a camo grouping. What you can't see is the roof above the front axle. It has a cutout for a front 20 mm cannon, which is manufactured by Glock.

Unfortunately, the diesel is an Isuzu from an old Airstream motorhome, and I believe they've contacted three of our A/S forum members for info on changing it out with a large block towing vehicle engine. Go figure!

Bet it's real exciting sitting up there watching those Low overpasses whiz above your head at 70 MPH, wondering if the next one is lower than the last one.

Ya know — I kinda like the looks of that thing! People would have run for their lives seeing one of those rolling down Main. That was when GM still had a sense of vision and real stylists. IMHO, the last time GM expressed any sense of design ingenuity was with the GM MHs in the 70s.
