1991 Classic 25ft

Passing thru Iuka, MS today and saw a 25ft 1991 Classic MH for sale. Stoped to ck it out. Looks very good wanted $26,500. After talking for awhile the seller said he also had a 1997 30ft. Land Yacht MH he would sell for $29,900 but his wife wanted him to sell the Classic, both units 454 chev. He said he had to sell one or the other.
I did not see the 97
Said he has had 5 AS's and WBC member # WBC 3887.

i looked at the unit also . i was in the blue chev pu. it has a few minor problems and needs to be clear coated again as the top caps are peeling. it has about the smoothiest running 454 i have ran. the only reason i didnt buy it was the couch is too short for me to sleep on. has a double bed i doubt me and the wife could sleep in that set up. i want a short unit but . milt is selling it too cheap. also wrong time of the year.

Overall I thought the unit looked pretty good, the clear coat & driver side window were the only things that jumped out. Window was lexan or plastic and not glass.
I did not drive or spend much time looking it over since I knew the unit to be to small for us.

Which drivers side window? The one closest to the front or rear of the motorhome? And can you replace the lexan with glass or do you have to install a whole new window assembly?

I'm flying out to look at this motorhome on Sunday and this type of information is very valuable.

Thank you,
Joe

Joe,

FWIW

Either of the windows in the front are like looking for hen's teeth when it comes to finding glass. The fixed pane is almost impossible to reinstall without removal of the whole window. The slider can be replaced with the window still installed. These windows show up once in a while, but if the fixed section is the lexan, it may just be best to live with it. I hear of guys finding them in boneyards, and once in a while Sonny gets some in, but it is a hard to find part.

Brett - Can the fixed and slider sections be cut at a local glass shop or do you have to find them as parts from an old Airstream Motorhome?

And who's Sonny?

the slider is plexi-=glass. and glass it is not available and can not be cut at a local glass shop, the driver side window is not available any where except at a junk yard or salvage place. some one had a set of glass on ebay a while back but they wanted your first born plus all your money. passenger side is avail from sonny in montevela Alabama. it is not that noticeable , also the pax seat has a wiring problem. some how the wires are pulled loose or a plug is broken. worst case, new slider $150 or even less at a junk yard. what i saw was a nice unit with some problems all easily repairable. the window will be a pain but only because glass is not available. if the couch was a bit longer i would be out fixing the misc problems. if the genset is still running rich, flip the air intake switch to winter, and it should lean out and run ok. i think you will like it. try a lower offer if you decide to buy.

Al is correct. No local shop will be able to do it. The glass is a double compound curve, front to back and top to bottom on the fixed section. The slider is a single compound top to bottom.
