1960 Globester?

Hi, We are currently looking to buy an airstream and have seen an 18ft Globester advertised. We haven't heard of the Globester, only the Globetrotter, which we believe is 19ft. Have any of you heard of the Globester or could this be a mistake by the seller?

We have emailed for more info but would be interested to hear anyone's views please.

Many thanks

Jim & Kathy

It's a mistake if advertised as an Airstream. If the seller should get back to you with pictures, then post one to this thread - everyone will agree one way or the other.

Tom

1960 Globester?

Hi Tom

Many thanks for your response. The seller has a website and here's a link to the photos of the Globster?

Comments gratefully received!

1960 Globester?

Thanks Tom, we've sent a reply with a link to the seller's website, which is currently with the moderator awaiting approval. This shows about 20 photos and lists it as an Airstream Globester (18ft)

Your help is appreciated.

Kathy & Jim

I found another mention of the Globester as an 18' California-built trailer.
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f112...tml#post105480

I wonder if it was an unofficial model name that was used internally at the California plant but never made it onto a name plate.

It is not a mistake I just bought a 59 Globester. The guy who is restoring it found the name plate in the bottom of the clsoet that says globester. I also found one other person online who has one. The Globester was made custom with a couch up front instead of a dinette. Not alot of info on them but it is definitely a Globester from Airstream

So cool to see an unusual trailer like this pop up. Can we see some actual pictures?

how many men does it take to "restore" in a few weeks? A restoration of an 18 footer would be 1000- 1200 hours.

How do I post pics here? New to the site and still figuring it out. It is one person doing the restore. He has had it a couple months and will hopefully be ready in a couple weeks. No polishing done this time. Maybe next year. Just want to take it camping while the weather is still good
