Window Seals on '92 LY MH

Hi,

It looks like every window on my used motorhome (just bought it a couple months ago ) need some weatherproofing repairs.

Does anyone know what approach to fixing this I should take? I wouldn't want to have to replace the windows unless it's a last resort. Is this something that one can fix themself?

My way of fixing this would be to inject some silicone caulking into the gaps but I don't know if that's a bad thing or not. Never had an RV to repair before so I'm green at this kind of stuff but willing to learn new things.

Dave,

I would start at an Airstream or RV dealer. I am sure the seals can be replaced. I have done it on my MH in the past. It is all a matter of gettting the right stuff.

I just did my front passenger window on a 95 35' Land Yacht. That rubber molding is starting to shrink and the rounded courners are starting to pull away. I started at the bottom of the window and used a very small screw driver to pry upwards at a 45 degree angle to the glass. the molding will pull up and then will pull relatively easily around the window. Clean out your tracks and weep holes so the water that gets in the tracks can get out. There are weep holes on the outside and then weep holes on the track in back of the outside.
To put it back in, start at the end on the bottom and place it against the window abutment (where before it may have shrunken away). Get the back against the glass and then push down and in at a 45 degree angle. Go around the window and have the "shortness" where time did the shrinkage, placed at the top of the window. The molding went back in tightly and I did not need any caulk to hold it in place. If you caulk it will just screw up the water channels for drainage.
