Who's that knocking at my door??

You never know when someone will walk up out of the blue and knock on your door.
Over the last month or so I've had no less than three visits when I least expected them.
Today I'm sitting in a Wal-Mart lot in Hendersonville, NC waiting for some copies to be finished at Staples. I'm working away on the internet and the phone when the knock happens.
Turns out to be the master AS collector himself...RichardT of Bat Cave, NC. We missed each other last week as I worked in his area but as luck would have it he was doing oil change duty here today.
We had a brief visit/tour of Airstream ONe and of course the obligitory questions from a passerby who thought the 28' AS was "short." Guy had to throw in that he had a 37' SOB.... go figure.
You meet the nicest folks ....driving an Airstream.

We had stopped at "Moonshine Junction" during our trip through the Northern Mountains. I would highly recommend this stop for anyone close by Asheville, NC. RichardT is a welcoming host and his store is a treat.

Now that our Airstream has been polished (by GSM Vehicles) and is all sparkles we cannot stop *anywhere* without folks coming up to us to ask about the camper, looking for a tour of the interior, etc. Most are very surprised to hear she is a 1993.....

The best part is all the thumbs up we get from other drivers while driving down the road pulling "The Tube".

Ack! When somebody bangs on my door, I yell, "Doorbell. It's got a doorbell!" Then I go outside and demonstrate it for them and tell them to listen. "It's a doorbell," I tell them. "That little round button right there. Just because it's a camper, you DON't have to go around BEATING on it. If you had an aluminum car, would you want me to come over and BEAT ON IT when I want to get your attention? DON'T beat on my door! It has a DOORBELLll!"

Most folks are taken aback by this at this at first, and some of them retreat in confusion, but they don't bang on my trailer door NEXT TIME.

(The word is spreading.)

Man that 93 shines! I'm polishing my 94 25' Classic but it seems to be taking forever.

Dang, Lamar, I probably wouldn't think to look for a doorbell on a trailer, and I probably would retreat if I was answered by a scolding like that!

Michelle and Leon, The Tube looks awesome!

Lamar - you need a sign or a bigger button. Who would have thunk a trailer would have a doorbell? Not me.

Yep, Colin (from GSM) told us it was major work to get her to this state. She needs a final polish (some minor swirls and clouds still left in the finish). We may do the finish polish ourselves as GSM did all the real heavy duty stuff already - we'll decide over the next few months. If we were flush with cash I'd have them do it for sure. We are saving up for the clearcoat work that still needs to be done, hopefully this fall we'll have what we need to complete the job.

Thanks! We are so proud of it you would think we did the work ourselves.
