Towing Capacity of 1995 30' Land Yacht Motorhome

I'm new to RV-ing (retiring in May!) & decided to start with an Airstream since I've always heard of their quality....so, I've put down a deposit on a'95 Land Yacht...
...I drive MG sportscars as my daily around town car & want to take one with me on my RV adventures (the first one from Alabama to Alaska & points in between from May 2003 til Sep 2003)....so, I'm planning on putting my '79 MGB on a trailer & heading out....

...what's the towing capacity of the RV?

...The dealer told me to take the total loaded weight of the RV less the GVR & add back the weight of the trailer & car....but, then he said , "don't worry about it. You'll not even know its back there & won't experience anymore than a gallon or so difference in gas mileage."....oh, he's not an Airstream dealer--once was--but has thsi unit on his lot...

The owners manual is the best place to look for this type of information. I will tell you this, an MG on a trailer will more than likely not weigh anymore than ay other toad that people are pulling. Be sure that the trailer you are going to use has brakes and a proper breakaway setup and you should be fine.

Most of the Airstream P30 chassis motorhomes have an upper limit in the 2000-3000 LB range. The only thing that I was able to find that would stay below the 2000 LB number was a Geo Metro.

Most people tow Saturns and the like and they stary in the 2400 LB range.

The biggest issue is the braking. You need to have enough stopping power on the MH to bring the whole thing to a stop with a trailer or toad brake failure. With proper brakes on the trialre the sales guy is right, you won't even know it is there.

Yes, my trailer has brakes & an automatic break-away...salesman said they'd wire RV for my trailer's electrical plug & brakes if I bring the trailer in a day or so before I'm scheduled to take delivery...&, there's a huge book of owners manuals/info, etc that I'm gonna have to go through...salesman also said a technician would go through them & all the RV systems with my upon delivery of the unit...

Agreed - based upon your given dimensions, and assuming properly functioning brakes on the trailer, I'd think you'd be fine. When I was a kid, we had a '70 or '71 Winnebago (was the largest one they built at the time) and we towed an Alfa Romeo on a trailer behind it. Went everywhere with us, and we never had any problems at all.

You can also email Airstream. I had the same question about the 94 - 96 Classics and emailed Jackson Center through the Airstream website. They got back to me in 24 hours...2000 lbs BTW.
