Tire size for 1988 345 Motorhome

Anyone have a clue what size tire this motorhome should take and which is the best tire to put on it?

What is on there now? Most 345's are on Alcoa 19.5" rims but I've seen some steel wheels and I'm not sure if they use the same tire size.

Both GoodYear and Michelin make good RV motorhome tires. I have Michelen 8R 19.5 XZA tires all around on my 345.

19.5's are standard on that size in steel or aluminum except on the smaller ones like my 79 24' take 16.5" and I have switched to 16" alcoa's

I can get you a set of very low milage tires mounted on steel wheels from a wrecket motorhome in NC, they are 12 ply uniroyal tires and look as new. l for a set of 6 plus a good spare.

Don't know what is on there now. Waiting for folks to tell me. Just bought it and needs tires before I attempt to drive it home.

Swebster is right on with the size. The rims are 19.5 X 6".

My '87 had 8R19.5's on it when I bought it.

The most popular tire brand seems to be Michelin - they make tires specifically for MoHo's. Not knocking Goodyears at all - it's just that Michelins seem to be more readily available.

I think most of us would recommend the radials - be careful not to mix bias and radial tires.

Good move on your part to put on new tires prior to the first trip - there are many horror stories within the Forums dealing with old tires throwing a casing. You and the "Search" options on the top pull-down will soon become fast friends - waiting on pics of your new baby.

The PO of Chummy put on Hancock tires just before we picked it up. They are pushing thirty thousand miles with no signs of wear. I had never heard of this brand before nor have I seen it locally but they seem to be holding up well.

Kent, would that be Hankook? They are based in Korea, that brand was OEM on a small fleet of Daewoos I once owned.
