Tile flooring results?

We have a "new to us " 2000 land yacht 30. We are removing as much carpet as possible, to replace flooring. Some Moho built around same time had ceramic tile floors. How has that held up? How is it to maintain? We are considering all options, except carpet! We live in Fl, so nor worried about cold floors.
Advice appreciated.

There was just a good flooring discussion in the "Classic Motorhome" section, http://www.airforums.com/forums/f311...or-165510.html
Nobody mentioned tile. I would worry about them popping loose when I hit a bump in the road.

I would say that the first issue would be weight. Ceramic tile is heaver per square foot than vinyl. Second point, there is movement in the floor. I know the ride in a MOHO is much smoother than the ride inside a trailer. I would bet that cracking would be an issue. Third, the installation would be a bear considering all the cutting and fitting you would need to do since you are not removing all the interior. Trimming vinyl or even a wood laminate would be much quicker.

I agree with everything 68 TWind wrote. I've installed lots of ceramic tile in houses, and you must make sure that the subfloor is rock solid, and is not going to move. Attempting to achieving that in an AS would require yet more weight before you even added the tile. IMO, I would not consider tile, stick with either laminate or carpet.

Tile in an Airstream can be done for small areas, but there are a LOT of considerations. Google "Hoffman Architecture tips on tiling" to read some good info. Tiles need to be small, thin, and flexible if possible. Hoffman uses resin tiles and epoxy adhesive.

I wouldn't suggest doing the living area floor. There are so many other flooring choices that work much better.

Thx. Wondered about those who have it

Thx. We are not choosing tile, going with a bamboo laminate. We wondered how it was working for those who optioned it? The flat fronts came stuck ceramic. We shared the same concerns mentioned above and wondered if it had popped loose, etc.
