Slideout generator setup

Well the coach is finally in the shop!! A/C install as well as body repair from the sidewall blowout begins this week.

Today's question..... has anyone replaced their generator setup to accomodate a slideout for service? I'm going to install the Generac 40 Quietpac in the belly area where once the condensor for the original engine driven unit lay.

I've seen the Kwikee slides but am not sure who else offers alternatives. Has anyone else done this? What is the original setup with AS units from the factory?

The original setup is VERY tight.

I removed the 6.5 Onan from the 345 - had to remove the inlet manifold AND use a forklift to get it out (milimeters to spare). Peter-H (79MH) replaced his Onan with a Honda - same comments - very tight.

I think it would be great if you could devise a slide for the genny.

Please post pics.

The accomodations are tight but it's really only a framework hanger that held the old condensor. Without modification it will handle the size of the Generac. If I go to Honda I have to drop the framework about 2 more inches. As the Generac is already in it's own housing and has been very reliable I'm staying with it for now.

I've emailed Joeybed about their tracks and will stop in at CW in Myrtle Beach this week when I'm down there.

Still looking for more ideas.....

Glen,
Most Deisel Pushers have a gen slide in the nose. Might consider contact Spartan or Workhorse about it. Then again, it could be the coach mfg adding this onto the frame. Maybe some of the bus conversion sites would have good info on this.

I would think some slides that can handle the weight and a cradle to hold it in could work. Some kind of serious locking mechanism would be required as well.
