Seat swivels needed

I've bought some replacement front seats for my '74 Argosy motorhome. Now, I'm looking for swivels to mount them on.

My original seats are mounted on tall swivel pedestals, but I've decided I'd rather use short swivels and mount them to steel-framed boxes. That way I can create some storage space out of what's currently a wasted area.

The shortest swivels I've found are a little under 3" tall.(http://www.vehiclespecialty.com/sb-hdwr.html) Does anyone know of a source for a shorter swivel assembly? I don't need seat tracks, just the locking swivel mount, preferably with seat belt attachments built in.

I wouldn't look for much shorter than that. You are going to have to work between the top of the box and seat to bolt everything together, get too tight and it will be a real pain.

Seat swivels

I have seen boat seat swivels that consist of two metal plates with a ball bearing asssembly between them like a lazy suzan. Maybe you could adapt them to suit your needs.Wallmart has them in the sportting goods department. You could try a boating store they might have a better variety of sizes.

P.S. It is true that you want tall enough boxes to clear the engine cover. We have the swivel booth set up and it barely clear actually it drags on the cover and you have to left the corner of the seat to make it swivel as the edges sag a little.

My problem is that the back of the seat hits the side wall and won't swivel further until I adjust the seat back all the way forward, which is uncomfortable. It's pretty tight up there.
