Hello
I'm thinking of putting in the back of my RV spare wheel, I saw some photos in a motorhome airstream, have any of you a picture of the wheel support? so I can copy it and mount it in mine
Thank you
Herman
You mean you want to create a spare tire holder and put it on the back of your AS trailer? or AS motorhome?
Putting something on the back of the trailer isn't a good idea, the bumper isn't designed to carry any weight and can cause leaks and other bad things to happen. My AS has a spare under the front A frame just below where the trailer body starts.
I believe the original poster is asking about a spare tire for a motorhome. If you look at his profile you'll see a picture of what appears to be a 4-wheel drive Classic motorhome.
As for the answer to his question. The Classic Series (sometime after 1980) had the spare tires mounted under a plastic cover at the back of the coach. The mount was such that it intruded slightly into the inside of the coach at the rear. The earlier Argosy motorhomes typically had some sort of hitch/bumper mounted spare tire.
I would suggest fabricating something at the back of the coach that ties into the rear hitch framework. That's what I plan on doing with my 74 Argosy 20' motorhome.

Fred recently posted, a very nice 20ft on his ViewRvs FB page that appears to have exactly what Brad describes.
For the rear bath Argosy this seems a viable option, but the rear bed units (like mine) have the original generator there, so anything we mount on the hitch will have to swing out of the way.
That's not a bad looking mount. I like the way it folds down. I'll have to keep that in mind when I go to build one for my Argosy.
I don't like traveling in a Motorhome without a spare tire. Even if it's an old one that you have to travel slow on.
