Greg,

I'll see if I can track down where I got it from.

Brad

The Glass company I purchased the Sika Tack MoveIt from is called Binswanger Glass. They have outlets all over the US, but mainly in the South and south east.
Their Part number: HAH000004
Locations | Binswanger Glass | Your One Stop Glass Shop
It is a "to the trade only" product, since most will fail trying to use, a fact I know Brad can vouch for. I had to put in ear plugs the day he was using it...

The original Sika Flex product that Peter used years ago is no longer available and the Sika Flex suggested replacement doesn't do the job. Here's a thread where the sealant issue is covered in detail.

Not yet. With my Argosy being stored and worked on inside it has not been a pressing issue to apply the Vulkem.

However I did have Ernie seal Peanut's windshield with Vulkem and it appears to have stopped the leaks coming from that area. I had him pry the gasket away from the glass and aluminum and the sealant was applied in the gap and then the gasket was laid back into place. The excess was then wiped up. He did use masking tape around the edges to help contain the mess.

Since the sealant was applied I haven't noticed any leaks coming from the windshield.

That's good news. The most important thing, in my opinion, is having a clean/dust free surface. Dust tends to collect under the gaskets. I used compressed air and a damp rag with lacquer thinner to remove any oily residue.

I know Ernie didn't use compressed air but he did clean with lacquer thinner. I know Peanut's windshields leaked for a long time because the cockpit floors were mostly pulp

So is this what's being recommended now for sealing windshields?

Seems like it, problem is that I saw the Move-it stuff perform for 11 years plus, but have no experience with this new line.

I hate to say it but this new stuff sounds like the stuff we tried after the Move-it disappeared. It lasted about a year and then pealed right off. I think I'll stick with the black Vulkem that you sent me.

I tend to agree, Brad. Vulkem is a proven sealant/adhesive, will stick to just about everything, except the clear coat they put on replacement panels.
Well, lets say it sticks just fine and seals, but does not have the same adhesive properties you get when applying vulkem to unsealed aluminum.
If the clear coat is lightly scuffed with sandpaper or steelwool, it will stick like thunder.
Due to the nature of my business (dealing with coatings and a large variety of surfaces), I am a test sample freak. I am often shocked and amazed what you find out after something is in service for a year or more.
