Hi! As I was driving thru Dallas on I-20 this morning my 345 shut down as if I had turned a switch off. Lights work... no dash gauges ..no nothing...nursed it to the shoulder and afer 5 hrs a wrecker contacted by Good Sam arrived and towed the AS to a Chevy dealership. Having driven more than my share of miles I have never had this happen before, although there are always surprises on the AS.
Any words of encouragement or maybe a quick fix?

Hang in there. Owning an Airstream can sometimes be challenging. I would also vote for the ignition fuse.

since so much is not working i'd guess it is between the battery and main fuse panel. from what i've read here i'd say it is a fusible link. check behind the alternator and at the starter. use a test light as sometimes they melt without melting the insulation.

Sorry to hear of our problems...ugh!...just what none of us want on the road (or any other time)... I'm not much help on the causes or fixes of your troubles, but I can hope for your good luck and offer moral support. Keep breathing and it will all get sorted out...and you'll be back on the road soon...

I am very sorry to hear about your troubles. Owning a classic AS motor home you will become accustomed to surprises. What's with Good Sam and 5 hours! They send me a letter a day stating their tow truck will be there instantly! Not only that but a special tow truck just for motor homes! Sounds like the Dallas area never read the advertisement.
There are several causes for your problem. I would first check all fuses, second the fusible links. Third, is your charging system, how much juice do you have in your starting battery? Do you have power on the coach side? There is a small resistor wire that runs from your ignition back to the relay switch between the starting and coach batteries. If this wire breaks you will loose all power to the ignition switch. The wire is tan on my coach. I am attaching a picture of the location of the fusible links for you, thanks to Peter H. This is on his coach not my diesel.
