# of Motorhomes built?

Does anyone know a way to find out how many of each model were built each year? Would Airstream give out that information? I know they wouldn't give out any current information but the classic motorhomes are what I'm after.

Fred,

A bit of info, I had the pleasure of touring one of the 18 92/93? Diesel Pusher Classics at a rally in Gainsville. WOW Wide body and nice, layout was like yous with a N/S bed. Had to be N/S because it sat on top of the engine. The current owner told me of the fact that there are only 18. He bought it recently and paid 60K. After touring we said ya it is nice but we love our classic argosy and love our payment!

Mine is a 1997 diesel also built by Thor. While at the Airstream plant I got info from the shop foreman and the Airstream customer service folks. My info was that 12 diesel units were built that year between April and November. Its unclear how many of these are still in service but recently a sister rig to mine went up for sale with only 25k miles, it has the dinette booth vs table chairs. Asking price is $25,000.

Its listed on the Views RV site.

When I asked about the Diesel Pusher classics on the spartan chassis a few years ago, and shared the information with you, I had to be insistent. The first email correspondence was: "Airstream does not retain the records of production from previous years." I countered with "You recently published the full listing of production 370s and even a memo showing all the first orders and their owners. How can you not have the number of Diesel Pusher Classics on a Spartan Chassis?" They then responded with "27 were made from 1994-1995"

So, I would say contact Airstream, and be insistent, but polite.

Note for Fred (Views RV)

I also had shared info received from Airstream on the diesel Freightliner motorhomes with your site that included photos. So far none of them have been used.
While at the Rally in Michigan this summer I met another owner of a 97 Freightliner who already had the same info I shared in the post above. He is one of the Airstream Club Officers and got his info through AS Corporate public affairs. In fact the VP of Marketing, Justin Humphreys and a dozen AS employees were present that week to answer questions about all of their models.

Might be helpful to reach out to them for additional facts and figures.

I would surely think that the DOT would require accurate record keeping including serial numbers on build manifests for recall and safety purposes.

Airstream recently gave the Slide Out Society a chart of the Slide Out production by year and models. It was interesting to say the least.

Contact them and ask. The Skydeck gang also published production records.
