Newbie -- AS 310 Battery Compartment

Hi Just purchased my Airstream 310 MH and the Battery Compartment was crunched -- does anyone know where to get one? also where to get parts in general for this motorhome. . .

Thank You Again,
Gman1957

Can you post some pictures showing the damage to the battery drawer?

If yours is like or 310, you will probably want to find a sheet metal FAB shop in your area and have one made up. It is a heavy gauge 10 or 1/8" metal. It would take a break to make the bend, drill press for the mounting holes and a little welding for the outer supports. I can take more photos if you would like. I had to drop mine a little so the golf cart batteries would clear.

310 Battery Box

Thank You Peter and Brad

1. I will post some pics of the banged up box when I get home from work.

It was bad enough that the slider was bent and not holding the box up. We didn't think it would hold the battery on the way home from Lafayette, LA to Shreveport so we removed it and wired the battery in the small round cargo box above where it originally went. -- Worked fine for now but needs fixxin.

Thank You cmadmaxman, however mine doesn't look anything like that but the idea of finding a sheetmetal shop is a solid one and I will do that.

Thank You ALL!!

Battery tray in our 1982 310

Here is some shots of the tray in our 310. I had to notch out for the new steps, and about ready to put Optima Batteries in. Tired of fighting the acid!

In '82 the battery box was "fixed" just inside the door, in the '83s its a slide out battery tray. I believe Gman has the slider.

Yes I know. He wanted to see what I had, and did not see where I could put the photos on the PM service, so I just added them to the tread.

Thanks Mike, it looked better until the battery acid make its mark. Even have the anti-acid pads under the 2 batteries. I'm afraid to see whats under em!
