NEW MEMBER ; USAF ties!

As I scan various posts, I notice, many members with past USAF ties! Myself included! My Joe was USAF 23 Year career, then with Northrup Grumman in exec position in Nat'l security for USAF, another 22 years. I worked for USAF as RN, civil service almost 20 years. I wonder...do we gravitate to Airstream because it's like an airplane sans wings? ✈️, LOL!

Could be why there seems to be many past Naval Aviation veterans dragging Airstreams around the country.

It was a privilege to care for our men and women in the military when I served as a Registered Nurse during and after the Vietnam war! I was civil service,mostly in USAF HOSPITALS, also, some Army hospitals. My heart goes out to those brave young men and women who now serve. My daughter served in Airforce, two brothers in Army, one brother and my Dad in Navy...so we had most. covered. I fly old glory on my flagpole, proudly, in my front lawn, always lit at night!
I hope to do the same on my Bambino, when I can find a solar setup to lite at night.

Welcome- I too served in the USAF as a computer operator- back in the 60/70's when it rook a wholehangar to house the computers that did a pittance of what my iphone can do! We also fly Old Glory at home and while camping. My husband served in the navy, my dad Navy, my grandad Coast guard, sister Air Force, one brother Air Force, the other brother Army. I give thanks for those serving today in this mixed up world to keep us safe at home. We meet many veterans in camprounds and enjoy their company- thank you for your service!

In your travels be sure to check out the military RV parks. Most are very nice and reasonably priced. They are open to all military, retirees etc. Just need your Mil ID

Pecanman5, I'll just bet you did! I've never flown a plane....but, I did JUMP OUT OF A PERFECTLY GOOD ONE ABOUT 45 years ago! I know, dumb, but, as a 20 something, and on a dare...BTW, afterward, I rapidly developed a lot more common sense along with my normal intelligence.
I look forward to meeting up with some nice folks along my journeys. If you come across a lil' ol' white haired lady with a blue Pathfinder towing a 2015 BAMBI 16 Sport, accompanied by a feisty little Pomeranian...stop and say HI!

There is a beautiful RV park run by the Navy in San Diego (Admiral Baker Park). There is another newly refurbished on Coronado Island (Fiddler's Cove Marina). The Marine Corp has one right on the beach at Camp Pendelton at Del Mar (south end). And the best one is San Onofre beach at the north end of Camp Pendelton; right on the beach, secluded, water is 10 feet away.

We are on our 5th Trailer. No one was a scotty 15 ft. Second was a English Blue Bird (while stationed in Europe (Germany) 69 Airstream Globe Trotter. 26 Ft Argosy (by airstream). Presently 25 Ft Excella airstream. AF Retired (CMSgt 30 years (1950-1980). Brother 4 years AF SSgt. Daughter 23 Years AF Major ret.

I fell in lust with Airstream while at flight school many years ago. They were frightfully expensive as I recall. After owning a number of trailers and small European RV's in our 22 years in Luxembourg (post AF and follow on NATO career) we retired home to NY,and bought our 23' International Serenity towing with a Ford 250, 6.7 liter TD. Finally gratification. The Airstream is highly coveted in Europe. But, towing restrictions there as well as price, makes it very difficult to have them. If one is able, bring one to Germany or England to sell where the price is double. No kidding. Likely you will be required to have it there for 6 months to avoid import taxes. Not sure but worth investigating if one is adventurous.

ColoradoLady, we have a lot in common: we've lived in CO and I've also served in the USAF (my husband is still AD), and I also have a Pomeranian...no white hair yet (I think), but I'm sure I'll get there eventually!

Thanks to all of you for your responses. It is nice to know that US Military are well represented. Perhaps, we travel well due to frequently changing deployments! I am very proud of my military affiliation and of my family who served. This is a fantastic country we live in....where else can one travel thousands of miles, visit so many glorious regions, at will, as we please?!
Thanks to Airstream, I will now enjoy travels as never before. As a solo senior lady, (my Joe passed on in 2012), I plan to see as much of the magnificent north west as the good Lord allows for me! Hope to meet some fellow AIRSTREAMERS along the way! Campers, by their nature are generally, good folks, and I think I am one. Plan to meet a few more in my journeys! HAPPY TRAILS, YA'LL!
