New Airstream Motorhome ???

Last year at the Region 1 rally I seem to remember the president of Airstream making mention that they were considering a new model of motorhome with the "classic" Airstream style. Does anyone have any information on this? Do you know if / when they are planning on releasing the model?

The factory said that the new addition to the factory should start shortly. This area is being built from my understanding for the primary use of building the motorhome line which will include the retro looking motorhome we've all grown fond of since it's original release. The new Classic style motorhomes I heard were suppose to be titled as a 2006. If that happens or not, only time will tell.

Pricing and floorplans are nothing more than a guess at this point, but it is coming from what I heard.

The first publicly released pictures of the scale model and exterior design of this new motorhome will appear in the Summer 2005 issue of Airstream Life!

The A-series are great-looking. I think I posted this info last December, but basically they are all-electric (no propane) motorhomes with very nice interiors. They are pricey, up over $300k list I believe. A 12kw diesel generator powers everything.

But the new A-series are coming out this year. There may be some info about them on the company website already.

The "new Classic" is entirely different. It will be an aluminum-bodied motorhome, and it has not been seen publicly yet. We talked about it a bit in the Winter 2005 issue of Airstream Life.

Here's a picture of the A-series interior. The wood is Peach, if you can believe that. This motorhome is very classy. I expect the new Classic to be pretty cool too.

We had the opportunity to view this new motorhome while on a factory tour four or five weeks ago. The interior is VERY classy and stylish; fit and finish is head and shoulders over other higher end motorhomes. As I recall, they told us the price would be about 350K. It even had a tiny dishwasher concealed in a lower cabinet. The hardware to open the cabinet doors was extremely cool, too...just press a button which is flush with the cabinet. Don, the tour guide said it was okay to check it out. It was a little bit strange because several Airstream VIP's were inside and outside the motorhome having what seemed to be a product evaluation discussion at the time.
